Cosy 17th Century Cottage, 4 Star Rating, 2 En-suite Bedrooms and 2 Car Parking

Riverfront cottage with kitchen and fireplace
Anne Cottage which has a Visit Britain 4 Star rating is in Bakewell, famous for its Bakewell Pudding, which nestles on the banks of the River Wye and is a tourist attraction with its Monday market and old world charm. The 17th Century cottage has bags of character but also modern fittings throughout. Unusually because it was once two cottages, there is a separate staircase to each en-suite bedroom, both have king size beds one of which can be split into twin beds on request which affords our guests the extra privacy of separate suites. There is a very well equipt kitchen with a separate good sized dining area containing a table and 4 chairs. The lounge is a cosy beamed room with attractive wooden floor and very comfortable leather sofas, gas fire and a 43" flat screen Smart TV mounted on an extending arm to allow the best view for all. The cottage is about 800 yds up hill from the centre of town and so offers the visitor the opportunity to walk into town to sample the many pubs and restaurants or visit the Monday market where you might pick up a bargain. There is a great selection of shops selling antiques and gifts, walking gear and some fabulous food shops to tempt you into something delicious for dinner. Bakewell is also a great centre to access the beautiful countryside whether you wish to drive or walk, and attractions such as Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall and Alton Towers. We provide free Wi-Fi access with the log on details in the handbook.
Guest accommodations at this cottage offer fireplaces and DVD players. Kitchens offer refrigerators, stovetops, microwaves, and separate dining areas. Bathrooms include shower/tub combinations and hair dryers.
Recreational amenities at the cottage include an outdoor tennis court.

The recreational activities listed below are available either on site or nearby; fees may apply.

Great location for exploring the Peak District
We loved the property and it’s location which was half an hour drive away from most places of interest and minutes away from Chatsworth House. We arrived on a Monday, which is a market day & super busy - warning you as parking is a nightmare until you can park outside the cottage. Plus the internal stairs in the cottage, as mentioned by the hosts and other guests, are steep. We had a super Sunday roast at the Barrel Inn at Bretton that was recommended by our hosts - late afternoon is a good time as it is very busy with walkers beforehand. We would highly recommend this property and the helpfulness of the hosts.

    Take a Peak ...
Perfect base to explore the Peak District. Spotlessly clean and with a well-equipped kitchen. The two double bedrooms en-suite are great. 5 minutes walk into Bakewell. Parking right outside. Little bit dark inside but what do you expect with a 17th-century cottage? There's no outside space but you've got the whole of the beautiful Peak District on your doorstep.

Two staircases were perfect for two couples giving a hint of privacy when needed.

    5/5 Excellent

    Quaint cozy comfortable cottage.
We just returned from our wonderful two week stay at Anne Cottage. Great location for getting around Derbyshire and very close to all the local shops, cafes and pubs. The parking was fantastic, right outside the front door. The cottage was very clean, nicely furnished and well equipped with everything we needed for the entire stay. We had the pleasure to meet Charles, the owner, who was super helpful and very friendly. I would highly recommend this property.
