High rise Hotel in iconic building

Posted Mar 6, 2018
The quality of service from the staff on arrival was very good. They welcomed me by name as they opened the door of the car. I was sent to the 19th floor to check in. Here things started going wrong. They couldn’t issue a second key card as the machine broke. So I went with one key card to the room. That key card didn’t work. The room was nicely furnished but small. Bathroom was well equipped. But the shower head wasn’t working. I got them to fix it. Next time the head fell off completely. They fixed it the second time around. Baku is known for high winds. The room was on 26th floor and winds battered the windows. The windows squeaked and rattled. I asked someone to sort this and suggested I may need another room. No other room was offered. They said they fixed the rattles. They hadn’t and I was woken several times in the night with creaking windows. The room came with Executive Lounge access. I went for the “complimentary” dinner in the evening which was very limited. Wine was charged extra which I was told about after I had drunk it. At a cost of 2 times the price of a glass of wine in London. Service in the lounge was patchy to say the least. I was looking forward to staying in the Fairmont. The brand reputation is excellent and I have had some memorable stays in other Fairmont hotels around the world. Unfortunately here the well meaning staff did not deliver for me. Disappointing. But don’t be put off. Go there but be aware of some of the issues.

Best hotel in Baku

Posted Dec 17, 2017
I loved my stay with Fairmont Baku. Location is on top of the hill 10 min walking to the old city and 15 min to Nizami S.t. (cafes and restaurants and shopping). Or you can use uber (2 manat). The hotel has cinema with international movies show and soon there will be shopping mall. Lobby ambiance is breath taking you will fall in love with the high ceiling and colors and the fancy marble. Rooms are big with modern furneture, toilet is fully equipped with 5 stars amenities and towels, rain shower and bath tub. Hotel facilities: there is spa (ESPA) awards winner that spa includes swimming pool Jacuzzi and steaming room free of charge for the hotel residence.

High rise hotel with excellent view of Baku bay

Posted Jul 27, 2017
Pros: Modern high tech room with good view.
Cons: House keeping and service in the breakfast area was disappointing,
Location: Difficult to walk, on a hill with steep incline. Good for the view but not for strolling.
Overall enjoyed our stay. Maintenance of the "gadgets" and fixture in a supposedly luxurious hotel could be better.
