The coridor at the 7th floor was occupied by 7 people having i party with beer and drinks, using the chairs from their rooms In the bathroom the floor wasn't clean and there was mould arround the floor/wall joints, The toilett wasn't clean. In their e-mail they promissed a discount if parking in Karstad garage was 6 euro but the reception claimed 10 euro. A very disapointing experience this hotel

Very un proof service - NO IN ROOM SAFE
Believe or NOT – NO room with SAFE BOX even the receptionist keep saying it was there in the room. Finally she had to call (Manager?) to hear what happen to in room safe-Reception has NO safety BOX like the normal hotels would have it. Waste lots of time in reception area – several times NO working people there. Very un proff service from reception. We ask for a quiet room - was giver room 601(room star from 5 floor) right to the noisy walking street. When people complain no kettle, then only get it you ask. When we ask after new room after first nt in noisy room - no problem if we can wait half day to after 3pm because this will the last floor to clean = 9floor. Other hotels will offer chance room but will do clean right away since they know we are waiting ... were told they do clean by floor so do not care that most expensive rooms in top will be last to be ready for customers. The best to say about this hotel was the view if you have patience to wait for the right room. The way the reception handle the safe box was extreme strange - we leave our private stuff - no idea where and who has access - gave us a paper with room no and htl name ? Because of NO interesse for private in-room safe box which absolute most import when travel can only give 1 *and that for the view. No glass-Mugs not even plastic.

Great location but average hotel
Amazing view from the top floor but otherwise average hotel. Our room was very basic but clean, but it needs updating and renovation. Some fixtures and fittings were not in a good condition. Breakfast is too expensive, very good cafes and restaurants are literally across the street where breakfast can be found for half the price.

You notice to hotel is build a long time ago. But the bathroom and parts of the room seems the be recently renovated. Bed was good and room clean

Zimmerausstattung ist für einen 4 Tage Trip nach Kiel in Ordnung. Für einen längeren Aufenthalt empfehle ich ein komfortableres Hotel. Service und Verpflegung waren exzellent. Gutes Frühstücksbuffet mit tollen Blick auf die Anleger.

In the middle of the action
What to tell? The hotel lies in the middle of the city centre and approx. 80/90 meters from a big shopping mall. Has a (evening) bar on top with a view over the harbour. The bar doubles in the morning as breakfast room. Rooms are basic, no fridge but coffee/tea/water boiler. Rooms clean not overly modern but all with a beautiful view (over city or harbour) to either N/S/W or east. More luxury rooms than the basic ones available. Parking available at a reasonable price.

Really nice hotel in a great location. We booked this hotel for the night before our MSC cruise, however it is worth noting that the MSC terminal is some distance away from the city. Therefore MSC put on buses from Kiel train station. This hotel was perfect for the city and the train station. We slept really well and had a room on the 9th floor overlooking the water. Would stay here again

The property has a car park but clearly not a big enough one as they couldn't fit our motorcycle in. The suggestion was a car park quite some distance away even though parking on the pavement outside was an option.

Short stay near the ferry terminal
The hotel was ok, quite close to the train station. Above our top floor room was a smoking area and there was a smoke smell in the bathroom. Breakfast at 12.50 was a lot for Germany where it is usually included in the price of the room.

My single room had no wardrobe or facility to hang my clothes up! I informed reception and had to wait one day and they put two straight hooks on the wall so close together an inch apart and left three different hangers! Dreadful. The room also had no phone. What happens in an emergency in the room no way to contact reception. Very disappointed overall.

Perfectly adequate for a one night stay, room was a little tired and quite small. Bar and breakfast both very good. Parking an SUV not easy.

Good location, value for money
Good location near shops, restaurants etc. Room was comfortable enough, clean and average. Breakfast was very good with nice selection of scrambled eggs, sausages and bacon, cold meats,salmon, pastries etc. Very good value for money.

Good Location
Upon check in they told us they overbooked and did not have the suite we originally booked. They split us up into two single rooms. The rooms were very very small with single twin beds. The room that we were given was not even pictured on the website. The bathroom had no electrical outlets. The hotel had no ice machines, but they did say the hotel bar would provide us with ice. The bar did not open until 6pm. The location was great centrally located by everything. Good food, train station, many bars were in walking distance. I was charged one price but when they split the rooms the paper said another price which was less.

We haas an exceptionally nice room. It was on one of the top floors with windows on 2 sides with a full city view. We really enjoyed it.

Located very near the train station. Bus routes around the city are very easy to get used to and all the nearby locations are easy to get to. Hotel was clean with English speaking staff. Good price and comfortable.

Excellent location. Showing its age.
Located just a short walk from the main rail station (HBH) and bus station, this hotel ideal if youre arriving by train from Hamburg as we did. On arrival (we checked in late which wasn't a problem as I emailed prior to travelling) we were greeted by a very helpful receptionist who showed us to our room on the eigth floor and an almost 360° view of kiel. The room (no minibar) itself was clean and plenty big enough for two people, the wifi in the hotel was very patchy to say the least and sometimes would not connect all. The bathroom but to honest the bathroom was showing its age a bit. The bar/restaurant is located on the 10th floor but I can't comment as we didn't choose to have breakfast included with our room and when I tried to use the bar (21.00 Sunday) it was closed but this seems to be the norm in kiel, it's a very quiet place once the sun goes down. Nitpicking now but the only real complaint I could make about the nordic Astor is the lighting in the stairwell was non existent and walking down from the 8th floor wasn't much fun in the pitch dark. There are two perfectly good elevators so this wont be a problem for most but if you like to use the stairs like I do, it's not ideal. All in all the nordic Astor is a decent hotel and I'd have no problem staying again if I was to ever visit kiel again.

Downtown Kiel…
This was a good hotel for the price and the location couldn’t be more ”downtown” in Kiel. The rooms had been modernized somewhat, but all the fixed stuff such as heating, doors and windows where original. They were all functioning but it made up for a bit of old feeling. But it was clean, everything was working, and we got a corner room on the 7th floor with a spectacular view. Street was a bit loud and the windows not up to the job keeping it out, but choosing a hotel in the middle of town one should, in my opinion, expect a bit of that. Free Wi-Fi, and a pretty good speed on it too, is a plus and not a given in Europe. I think it should be mandatory, but since it’s not, ASTOR should be recognized for it. Front desk was friendly enough and they gave me no reason to doubt their readiness to help even thou I didn’t utilize it. Breakfast was very good, and if we liked the view in our room the one from the top floor where the breakfast room was topped it. Parking was OK but not great,. The shopping malls and streets of Kiel was literally just out the door and a good assortment of restaurants and cafés in striking distance. In terms of location it couldn’t been better. So summing up, would I stay there again? Yes definitely. Is it on my top-ten list of hotels? Not by a long shot. And the important question, would I recommend it? Yes I would.

Good Location
Very pleasant staff and good location in the city center very close to train and bus stations also close to the ferry terminal. Hotel is a little dated but the rooms are clean and well kept. Breakfast was 10 Euros each but there is a good choice. Downside was the wifi, it is free but terrible reception my connection was dropping every 5 minutes so it was impossible to work from the hotel.
