"Great place to stay for a stop along the way. "
Needed a place to stay the night in the area. Avonlea was just what we needed: right off highway, walking distance to town for dinner (nice after spending hours in car), clean comfortable room and excellent full English breakfast!

Fantastic beautiful hotel. Staff were lovely. My only moan (and it did not bother me enough to complain) was the room was next to what I assume was the boiler room and on the Saturday morning I was woken several times by the noise. Would still stay there again.

"Pleasant stay - with reservations!"
We appreciated the service given by the staff apart from the fact that we had no help with our luggage and the initial finding of our room through the maze of corridors and very quirky stairs etc. The breakfasts and evening meals were good value. Our main concern was the room offered. It was small with very limited facilities and a long way from reception. If we had been staying for a longer period we would have demanded another room.

"Excellent value"
We wanted a quiet pub with a bath in the enquire and good food. We had all of the above plus experienced great hospitality. Seemingly the beautiful 12th century church bells chime on a regular basis through the the night but I heard nothing! Would definitely return for another stay.

"Lovely pub with great staff and a good vibe. "
Great vibe in the pub on a Friday night. Lots of locals here for early doors dirnks in the garden on a nice sunny evening. We stayed a night with family and had a good time. Staff flexible to needs and gave good service with a smile. Food in restaurant was spot on for our needs. Well done.

Room was very clean & comfortable if compact. Although private bathroom not en-suite which was disappointing. Breakfast had large choice with great portions.

"Birthday weekend Away"
Hotel room was extremely hot even with fan and window open. Bar staff (the girls) were extremely helpful on all occasions. I think the manager needs to be more hands on. When we left we had to leave our room cards on bar as no one around to even ask us if we had enjoyed our stay and our bill not ready when ask at breakfast and they had to ask us what we had. Breakfast was a little cold and only offered one cup of coffee. There are more positives than negatives but for the price charged would expect more attention to detail.

Pocket Guide: Banbury, Oxfordshire Golf Hotels

Banbury is a bustling market town in North Oxfordshire. It is known largely for its famed Banbury Cakes, and for the old English nursery rhyme, Ride a cock horse to Banbury Cross. There remains a cross in the town centre along with a statue of the lady on her horse. Nearby Cropredy, 4 miles along the Oxford Canal, hosts one of Britain's biggest folk festivals every August.
