Given room key that did not work. The entire first floor of rooms smell like raw sewage and then they try to perfume the corridors to get rid of the smell. Had to hold breath from elevators until got inside room and opened windows and then met with the blast of diesel from the trucks lined up in parking lot below.
An amazing hotel, the only issue was the noise coming from parties outside that went on to about midnight both nights we were there. The windows could be more sound proof. Everything else was amazing, the staff, the food, the location all 10/10.
Property located near old harbor and in between old harbor and the Catalan beach , old port fun to visit lots of shops and restaurants for bouillabaisse. The Catalan beach on the other end great public beach and view points from the Pharo palace
Cruise terminal 20 min by taxi
Great place… beautiful rooms, great staff, buffet breakfast awesome. Worth the price to stay here. Great location as well.

Not a 5 star Hotel
The hotel is in much need of a refurbishment, the spa area was in very poor condition, sauna door was catching, the slats on the sauna benches were all worn, the lockers were hanging off their hinges...For the price paid the standard is well below what it should've been.
We had a great experience at Sofitel Marseille. Beverly was incredibly helpful and friendly at check in after long travel and luggage mishaps. Room service was delicious and service was great-especially helping to bridge the gap with this non-French speaker.

Needing an urgent renovation
The hotel needs an urgent refresh. While the beds and bedding are incredible (as are the views), there were too many issues in the hotel. The shower is impossible to maneouver, water floods the whole bathroom when showering, public spaces such as the spa and the fitness room are truly a disgrace for the Sofitel brand.
The accommodations were wonderful especially with a large deck overlooking Viex Port. The food was fabulous (we ate at both Trois Forts and the Brasserie. And the staff not only spoke English very well, but were very kind about it. (our French was tres miserable)
The room met expectations without going far beyond. The room was clean, comfy bed, appropriate soaps/cosmetics and aesthetically pleasing. Wish there was some view from the balcony and usb chargers for the price we paid. The view for breakfast was amazing but the price is very expensive for what it provided. If i could do it again I would skip the high breakfast cost and just get a tea or coffee to soak in the view. Overall satisfied with my stay but not blown away and would explore other options for the price.
