We were transferred to Moose Hotel

Pros: Brand new cleanliness and modern spacious room design. Very thoughtful amenities. The best feature was that there is a balcony & AC/ in every room.
Cons: They could have a small drygoods store for convenience. But not necessary since it is so close to the main strip. Everything is nearby.
Location: One block away from the main strip on Banff Ave where all the stores and restaurants are. You can get everything with just a short pleasant walk.
We were expecting to stay at the Ptarmigan Inn but they transferred us to the Moose Hotel just next door. Same owner. They said they offered the transfer with no fees which included everything we pre-paid (room and breakfast). Ptarmigan stated they did this because they are in the process of renovations and there would be several days of no water. So we moved to the Moose Hotel (which is brand new as they just opened in July 2016). Wow. This place is really really nice. Staff is awesome. Restaurant and food is top rate. Room was very spacious and the bathroom very modern and spacious as well. Refrigerator and flat Smart TV in every room. Naturally it is clean since it is brand new. Well equipped room with an AC/Heater an a balcony at every room. Laundry facility provided too. Fireplace in the lobby was a really nice touch. To top it off, they have a sauna, 2 hot pools and a small indoor kiddies pool on the roof. They also have exercise equipment and a spa. All brand new. Really nice. We went to the Fairmont and felt this certainly had some equivalence with it being brand new and so well equipped. There are no shops however this place is one block away from the main strip and you should know the main strip (Banff Ave.) is very walkable, and, provides plenty of parking if you need to use a car to haul your purchases. The Moose Hotel has a lot of parking for their guests (hotel, visitors and restaurant/bar/lounge). Awesome experience.

Pros: Love the proximity to downtown. Also a big fan of the free breakfast. Not a muffin and glass of juice but bacon, egg / omelette station, sausage fruit
Cons: I would like a fridge in room (just sayin)
Location: Al the best of Banff is walking distance this is the ideal location
Not at all fancy but very comfortable and a free breakfast that in Banff equates to about $20 per person per day. Factor that in when choosing a hotel.

Pros: The service is exceptional. The crab dip was delicious and the breakfast was good.
Cons: The spa area was not tidy, floors were dirty and the steam sauna smelled of mold. The bed and the pillows were not very comfortable.

The Price is Right!

Pros: The free breakfast is awesome, omelets, and eggs made to order, plus a variety of breads, croissants, muffins, and fruit.
Cons: I couldn't find anything wrong with this hotel. It is not the Fairmont, it is entirely unpretentious ...a good solid hotel property.
Location: The location is great for walking to all the shops and museums.
This is a great place to stay in Banff. Free wifi, free parking, free breakfast. Most hotels in Banff are expensive, but given the amount of time you actually spend in the room itself, this is all you need....and the price is right!

Great location but simple room

Pros: Two hot tubs with varying temperatures. This hotel is also in a great location.
Cons: There is no air conditioning in the room and it was very hot even without the heat on. Also when we booked we were not made aware of the fact it is under renovations. So come 7:15am all we could hear was banging and loud noises from the construction. It would have been nice to know this before we booked at this hotel.
Location: Great location to downtown Banff.

Good location, but it takes 10 minutes for hot water to reach the 3rd floor and their onsite hottub, which they call a hottub, is set to a temperature of a warm bath. The free hot breakfast was suitable for a free breakfast. At this point we'll probaby try one of the other hotels in the area.
