Hotel in need of serious TLC and better service

Deer Lodge is an interesting old hotel but our stay was disappointing. There was no hot water for showers, the room small and overheated and the comforter on the bed uncomfortably hot with no means of arriving at a comfortable temperature. The coffee station in the morning had run out of both coffee and hot water by the time we got there. Staff seemed unapologetic about the inconveniences. As well, having booked through Expedia, we were explicitly told we were low priority and got one of the smallest rooms in the place. Not impressed and will not stay there again.

Enjoyed the rustic feel. the hot tub and sauna were great. Would be nice to have coffee/tea more available. Food was good, but pretty pricey. it was noisy, but to be expected with an old lodge.

Be a part of the mountains!

This is character hotel. No 2 rooms are alike. Some rooms are tiny but adequate while others can sleep a whole family with four kids. All have luxurious bedding and pillows with clean, strong showers. The views from the hot tub cannot be beat, even after sunset the glitter of the stars highlight the surrounding mountains. Food is wonderful! Right from breakfast through to their pub food culminating in fine dining! Scrumptious after a hard day of skiing.

Pros: everything!
Location: incredibly beautiful location close to skiing, hiking wildlife, waterfalls and lakes.
luxurious vintage lodge with a gracious and welcoming staff, fabulous food, roof top hot tub with spectacular mountain views, and a perfect location for skiing, hiking and enjoying nature in its finest. expect to be whisked away to a simpler time sitting by the fire in the great room before or after dinner surrounded by vintage photos of the area, Tiffany lights and Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired decor. just lovely.

Hotel staff at check-in was outright rude! Central building heat was set at circa 30C which meant that we had to open a window when it was -28C outside. The hotel air smelled so badly it made us nauseous. Very disappointing on all accounts.

Good enough when you need to crash somewhere for a night, but too old for myself.
