Had a really lovely stay, our bed was a little uncomfortable though. It was supposed to be a kind sized but they just pushed two twins together :/

Thank-you for staying with us at Solara Resort & Spa, we are so pleased you enjoyed your stay with us. We are sorry you were inconvenienced by the split-able king in the second bedroom, this is an often requested feature in our two bedroom suites and the majority that are kings will be this style. For future stays you can request not to have a split-able king and we will try our best to meet that request. Again thank-you for staying with us and we look forward to welcoming you back again.

Going Downhill

Posted Apr 15, 2017
We have been here many times and were very disappointed with our stay this last time. We booked through Expedia, who failed to mention that the pool at Solara was under construction. Solara's response was that it was Expedia fault not theirs. We had booked at this hotel BECAUSE of the pool and could have gone elsewhere for less money. We got to our room and found it to be messy on the patio, bird poop everywhere and rust dripping down the glass door. It was chilly so we turned up the heat, when it kicked in it sounded like the furnace was IN the room. We looked past all that and went to set up the fold out couch and found it was less of a mattress and more like a bed of springs. We travel often, I've never felt anything so uncomfortable, the floor would have been better. We called the front desk and they said there was no cot, no option other than to upgrade to get another bed, $50+ a night, which we did because there was no way anyone could possibly sleep on the springs.wgen checking out I asked if there was anything they could do and at first the lady said there wasn't, but then a manager came out and said she would wave the upgrade fee, which we really appreciated. Previous to this experience the staff at solara seemed to take pride in their jobs and making it a five star hotel but this last trip was really disappointing. Much of the staff we talked to had a 'not my problem' attitude. When you're paying over $200 a night you expect it to be impressive.

Dear Guest, Thank-you for staying with us at Solara Resort & Spa, we are sorry to read that your most recent stay with us failed to meet the standards you have come to expect from us. Please know that we take comments for improvement very seriously and have discussed your review with our team; while some circumstances are beyond our control care and understanding should be part of the attitude with which any concerns are addressed so the fact your received a "not my problem attitude" is something we will work to correct. We are sorry that the pool renovation impacted your enjoyment of your stay, we do have this closure noted on both our website and the Expedia website and once the renovation is complete in mid-June we will have a new larger pool and an over-size hot tub for our guests to enjoy. Please accept our apologies for the nonchalant attitude your received in raising this concern. As for the state of your balcony we are working with our maintenance team to try and provide a solution which will allow the birds which are part of the natural environment to co-exist better this our guests and start our spring patio cleaning to address the issues you encountered. We know that you have stayed with us at Solara Resort & Spa before and hope that on your next visit you will see the improvements you are seeking here.

Comfortable but needs attention to detail.

Posted Apr 6, 2017
We have stayed at the Solara countless times as it is convenient for ski holidays. The condo units are surface clean but not thoroughly clean. In the past we found someone's underwear behind a chair in the living area. The corners, and behind doors are often a bit dirty. Housekeeping is not this hotels strong point. We found peanuts in the master bedroom in the unit this time. Not our peanuts I might add. Front desk staff are friendly if you speak with them and sometimes they are not at all friendly. They aren't too attentive either. But the hotel amenities are good. Convenient.

Dear Skiers, Thank-you for staying with us at Solara Resort & Spa and while we are pleased you enjoyed the location and amenities of our resort we are very sorry to read about the issues you had with both guest services and housekeeping. We strive to constantly deliver great service to our guests and are very concerned that we failed on your visit, we are working with our guest service team to be more receptive and responsive to guest concerns so that we are addressing them quickly. We will also be reviewing your comments with our housekeeping managers as finding other people's items is not okay and we are deeply concerned that you found underwear. We hope that our guest service team was able to get this situation rectified for you quickly. We hope that you will return to Solara Resort & Spa in the future and give us the opportunity to prove we can provide much better service. Jenn Nelson Interim Hotel Director

Nice hotel close to everything

Posted Apr 3, 2017
Great hotel close to everything. We were upgraded to a 2 bedroom suite upon arrival which was nice. The rooms are very spacious. We were there for a wedding so didn't use the room much but had we been around we could have utilized the room better. Fully stocked kitchen, BBQ. A very cosy vibe. Showers were great and the bed was super comfy. The pool was under construction unfortunately when we're there so can't comment on that. Would definitely stay again

Weekend Girls Getaway

Posted Mar 20, 2017
Pros: spacious and lots of parking, better rate than other 2 bdrms in Canmore
Cons: Customer Service, Attention to Details in Units
Location: Downtown has great shops, lots of awesome restaurants - notably Tapas, Crazyweed Kitchen and The Trough. Enjoyed a couple of Mini Markets on Saturday
Hotel was nice overall. Check in lady was lacking energy and enthusiasm. Our 2 bdrm was spacious. One toilet appeared to not be clean - lid/seat were both up and it had dried splatter on it (cleaned myself). King room door did not close properly, needed black-out blinds and odd that there was not a TV in that room. Ice dispenser didn't work - we got 2 mini cubes the entire weekend. Bathroom lighting is very dim. Day of check out the elevator to parkade was out of order. Thankfully we were on level one and didn't have to drag our luggage down the stairs. While these issues were annoying, we weren't there enough to discuss with the staff and have the issues addressed. Perhaps if we were asked about our stay at check out (same lady that checked us in) we could have given great feedback for them to follow up on.

Overnight mountain stay

I was looking for an economical place to stay in the Canadian Rockies at the last minute. I was not expecting 2 fabulous self contained apartments. My friends and I will definitely return.

used to be top tear, now similar to the rest

Posted Feb 27, 2017
Pros: location
Cons: kitchen bathrooms bedrooms
Solara is a resort in Canmore we have stayed at in the past. It was always the top choice and generally, the accomodations were superior to the other similar condo hotels in Canmore. I find just like the other condo hotels in canmore, its become somewhat run down. The kitchen is not well stocked (limited glass wear), simple things like tongs were missing. The oven door does not close all the way because the racks which were likely replaced, do not fit this stove The shower in the main bath was clogged so water was filling up as you tried to shower. The two cribs which we had requested through expedia, and then confirmed by calling the hotel on day of arrival, and also confirmed by the front desk clerk......were not in the room as they should have been, and then still when we called from desk to ask for the two to be brought up, only one arrived. lack of communication. We had booked a premium two bedroom with a view however upon arrival, we were set up in a 2nd floor unit, with a queen bed in the master (with a tv), a king in the second bedroom (no tv) and no view as we were in the back building. Nothing about this room was premium or worth the extra we paid for a premium room (supposed to be on the top floor, supposed to have a separate dining room, supposed to have tubs in bathroom). Given I have gold status, most hotels offer a complimentary upgrade. Again nothing was offered. Obviously unimpressed with the experience.

Beautiful hotel. Poor communication.

Could have been better if we would have been informed that the fireplace in our room wasn't working when we checked in. We could not get our room to a comfortable temperature and when we told the front desk staff all they said was sorry. No one once offered to do anything to help the problem.

Well appointed comfortable hotel with a theater!

Posted Feb 27, 2017
Pros: New, clean, close to Banff.
Cons: For us it was better signage because arriving late, other signs etc. are in the way, makes it harder to find.
We arrived late after spending the day in Banff, but it is an easy drive. The hotel sign from the way we came was a bit hard to see but when we found it , it has underground parking which is nice no windshield to scrape. We had guests from Japan and they liked it very much. The two bedroom suite was really nice , everything looked new and clean. Beds were comfortable , next time we will stay longer.
