Excellent hotel in a prime riverside location

Pros: Food, value for money, view, location
Cons: Reception staff could be more friendly
Location: Amazing location next to the river with access to the free hotel river boat. Easy access to a boat for the Grand Palace, Wat Arun, Chinatown, etc
We started our Thailand journey in Bangkok at the Peninsula Hotel and the property did not disappoint. We were picked up at the airport in a BMW after a long journey and comfortably arrived at the hotel 45 minutes later. The staff were very professional and brought us to an amazing room with floor to ceiling windows overlooking the river. The room was large and decorated well (and did we mention the view?). The hotel had a free ferry boat that conveniently took us across the river and to the ferry/train stop close by so we could easily explore the sights of Bangkok: Grand Palace, Chinatown, Weekend Market, Jim Thomson House, etc. The breakfast was impressive with three massive rooms of Thai, Chinese and Western food. The staff of the restaurant/dining/bar areas was incredibly friendly and the quality of the food for breakfast and dinner was excellent. The reception/front-of-house staff were extremely professional however came across as cold and unfriendly. This was a surprise considering the staff in the restaurant area including the manager who came to talk to us. Overall, we would recommend this hotel for the view, food, value and location.

Professional and knowledgeable staffs. Room service food and delivery was good and quick. The ferry is a definite bonus for Bangkok.

There are fruit flies come out from the bath room sink twice in the same room.Still are after spraying.

Honeymoon Happines

Location: Their ferry service is very useful and takes you to the nearest pier where you can go about exploring the city on the boats (private or public).
We started off our honeymoon in Thailand with Bangkok. We were debating between Peninsula and Shangri-la and could not be happier to have chosen the Peninsula. Staff was over the top friendly, food was excellent, pool was pristine, spa treatment lovely and they sent a bottle of bubbly with chocolate and fruit their compliments. All in all we have no negative words for our 4-day stay here.

The only thing is one might need to travel by boat to the other side of the river.A little inconvenient.
