Big Red House - Lovely Historic Bangor Home

Riverfront vacation home with kitchen and patio
Welcome to the Big Red House!
After the BRH had become a temporary home for medical personnel working in area hospitals during the pandemic, it is back to hosting vacationers. We thank our essential workers from the bottom of our hearts for being a light in our darkest hours.❤️ We are excited to invite back familiar faces as well as new travelers to Maine. Come stay in one of the Queen City’s oldest homes. History awaits you.

Once home to sea captains and the father of a US Treasurer, this beautiful historic home was built circa 1865. It is the perfect place to stay while you tour the Queen City. Enjoy a huge eat-in kitchen, 3 bedrooms, upstairs laundry, pellet stove, garage, central heat, and private driveway. It's close to downtown, too! Great for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, families, and groups. A hop, skip and a jump away from lobster pounds, hiking trails, local theaters, shopping, dining, the casino, and skiing. The BRH is right down the street from the Bangor Waterfront, too. Dogs welcome (no other pets, please.) Make the Big Red House your cozy home away from home!

(This property is equipped with exterior cameras and any illegal activity is reported directly to local police. Thank you for respecting the BRH.)
Guest accommodations at this vacation home offer DVD players and coffee/tea makers. Rooms open to patios. Accommodations are furnished with dining tables and kitchen islands. Kitchens offer refrigerators, stovetops, microwaves, and separate dining areas.

BRH in Bangor Maine
The BRH is very deceiving from the outside but still a very quite area and close to EVERYTHING! Once inside it is a VERY beautiful and relaxing! The kitchen is beautiful, and fully equipped for any chefs needs. We enjoyed our stay and will diffinately visit again!

Great place for a vintage style getaway
We were here for work. The house is well maintained. The updated kitchen is well stocked with coffee and tea and cook ware. Would bring spices if you are planning to cook. Shaw's grocery store is nearby. Large living room with L shaped couch and TV. Adjacent to this is a front room with a desk for computer work. Front door was not in use due to heavy snow. Front entrance leads to study, then LR and kitchen in back. Also has banistered, carpeted staircase leading upstairs, where there are 3 bedrooms and a well lit bathroom. There are 2 bathrooms in the house, both bath tubs are deep. The upstairs bathtub is freestanding and has a shower. In keeping with it's vintage style it has older lighting, beds and wall paper upstairs. The beds are comfortable. Heat works well. The house does have a driveway so you can get off the street on the nights when street parking bans are in effect. Neighbors are friendly. Cindy was great and responded to all queries quickly.

One night in Bangor
The house was great and has a lot of character. The house has nice modern touches but keeps its original charm. We were a group of friends and had a lot of space to spread out.
