Golden beach hotel should be knocked down disgusting place we stayed for three weeks had no mosquito nets big gaps in window door wouldn’t lock had to ask for someone to clean you were only allowed 1egg for breakfast the boys by the pool were very helpful and polite shame about hotel never stay there again

Neglected/tired/destroyed/dirty rooms & property
Twenty years go this hotel must have looked nice, it is now dirty, neglected with broken doors, filthy blankets and pillowcases (see photos) and staff that could not care less about your comfort. In 2 stays (8 nights total) I changed rooms 4 times! All rooms had no WATER PRESSURE, in the last room I had no water at all for 2 days, I had to take a shower by the pool (see photo of shower turned on but no water)! In one room the pillow and the blanket stunk like heavy sweat and I asked for new ones. I received a stained pillow case (see photos) and to my horror, I discovered 2 days later that the inside of the blanket had remains and marks of human feces (excrement). The balcony doors were all broken (do not lock) so be very careful. The bathroom doors are broken (see photos). They pressure you to pay for A/C which will not work or they will not give you the remote control. Electrical outlets hang out the walls, the walls are marked with blood from dead mosquitoes, destroyed furniture in the rooms (see photos).. The staff do not want you to complain and they tell nothing to the owner when I spoke to him about the filthy blanket, he knew nothing about it (he apologized).. an employee told me that the staff change the bad comments, we will see what they will do to mine.. you get what you pay for, cheap prices for filthy rooms.. worst hotel that I have stayed in the last 10 years of my travels.. imagine my horror when I say the blanket full of marks with human feces..

We are disappointed about complaints after we had addressed all your previous complains . The hotel gave you free checkout which would have costed you D800. At your last checkout. You had stayed at GBH for more then two occasions which is the testimony of your liking for the hotel. Our objective at GBH is to make our guests happy. Why being so bad and ungrateful to those who help you to move rooms 4 times as you said an giving false information to people. Thanks

I loved the hotel! The location is perfect! The staff are wonderful and helpful and extremely friendly. The food is excellent! Some local drummers played on the grounds it was so good. I will be returning to this hotel as soon as I can. Thank you Golden Sands Abaraca baci

Great experience for the price. I could hear the ocean from mybed as I slept. All the staff were kind. The power and water would go out, but its Gambia, the people who left such negative reviews should relax. For the price your paying, its a great experience, and I would stay again. Only point to make is there is no mosquito net and many mosquitos, so make sure youre on malaria prophylaxis before hand. Felt the need to review which I never do, because the other reviews here didnt reflect the great experience I had.

Golden beach
Hotel is adequate but tired, not a lot of facilities. Wouldn't recommend for families but for a basic hotel it serves its purpose. Cheap holiday. Lots of wild life around and good access to the beaches.

Dear Martin Thank you for your feedback regarding the unsuitability of the hotel for families visits, we can confirm that we had received numerous guest that have stayed at the hotel with their families.in this case couples would often occupy the single room whiles there children stay in nextdoor rooms where additional beds can be provided if required. We at Golden Beach try to please guest by providing them with numerous facilities as provided in other standard hotel but at more reasonable rates. Constant power cuts with inefficient standby generator that stays off for hours not covering the blackouts . Poor quality breakfast overall. The brochure states WiFi in rooms while in reality only the reception area covered.

He has been given a accordial welcome at Golden Beach Hotel. For the WiFi is available at all public areas with the hotel.Power goes on and off standby generator start within couple of minutes get restored after 10minutes this is a general thing

W tym hotelu spędziliśmy dwa tygodnie pełne miłych wrażeń. Hotel jest cichy i spokojny, położony tuż przy plaży, z naszego pokoju z balkonem rozpościerał się więc piękny widok. Obsługa jest miła i sympatyczna . Basen czysty i zachęcający do kąpieli. Do morza kilka kroków.

Would not repeat
Golden Beach in Gambia is one of the best positioned facilities, but it is far from beeing a hotel. The hotel looks like ut was abandoned and than they just got back to open it and collect some money. We had to ask? for fresh towels, we had to ask? for a sheet. Location of the hotel is splendid and the garden is amazing. I saw so many oportunities for them, but even breakfaat was a disaster. First day we got some slices of tomatoe and paprika, few more or less dry pieces of bred and coffee. In next days they added little cheese and an egg per person, for which we heard that one of the waiter paid for, because the owner wouldnt want to buy them for guests. The good side of the hotel is a small pool and shady garden.

What is apparent at Golden Beach Hotel is that we provide adequate breakfast for all our guests. Breakfast is provided between 8am to 10am. Again it is strange news to us to hear from you that a waiter commented that the hotel owner refused to buy items for breakfast. Regarding the provision of towels,bed sheets etc, we can confirm that everyday our rooms are cleaned and provided with necessary items and inspected thereafter. Property is in a good location with a pleasant swimming pool and direct access to the beach. Hotel is set in pleasant, green grounds Staff on arrival were friendly and helpful However, 1. Whole property is in dire need of a revamp as our room was very run down. 2. When we arrived our room was not clean - there were lots of flies in the bathroom - we asked the room to be cleaned which was done straight away but the room remained relatively dirty. Another guest confirmed that he had the same issue. 3. Upon arrival there was only one (dirty) towel, no bedsheet and only one pillowcase. We were provided with two towels, a pillowcase and a bedsheet on request which were clean but need to be renewed. 4. Niether the door to the room nor the bathroom closed properly. 5. No measures taken in the room to counter mosquitos, (e.g. nets, window nets) meaning that though the hotel is in a pleasant setting, there are LOTS of mosquitos in the rooms at night. 6. The room was very damp and the a/c didn't work properly, resulting in an unpleasant night's sleep. 7. Breakfast described as 'buffet' online though in reality it was a very basic set up of omelette, bread and spreads, and tea/coffee/juice If the management is reading this please DO try to act on these things as this could be a good hotel. Now it's absolutely not.

Monkeys provide breakfast cabaret
This place is fantastic value, and staff pleasant. There's not much in immediate area, not a problem in daytime, beach walks amazing, but not so good at night. Sennegambia Strip a bit seedy at night, though music good. Found bed a bit itchy, and mosquitoes enthusiastic. Nice to have tv with news channel in English.

Unfortunately the hotel doesn't measure up to the staff who were very helpful and tried there best to sort out the issues. Need some money spent to bring it up to a decent standard. In a very good position. Close to the beach and senegambia.

Quite far from Banjul ferry at the end of Senegambia High road. Nice staff but no connexion (equipment out of order !) and impossible to get a remote control for the TV set despite 3 times claim. Old age Hôtel quite expensive comparing the offers around

Nice place for couple and singles.
When traveling to Gambia you should not expect high standards. The country is poor. This hotel was nice and the AC worked great which was the most important thing for me. There was not a lot of people traffic and easy access to the beach. Easy access to catch local taxis to Senegambia.

Great staff and remember a lot of the room attendants barely earn a living wage in Africa, so any small tips is unlikely to affect your bank balance but can make all the difference to them. Just remember the tourist season is only six months of the year.

Friendly and quiet
I only stayed for one night, but my friend and I found this hotel to be lovely, extremely friendly staff, great pool area and the rooms were fine, if not luxurious. The only problem is that you have to take a taxi to get to the Senegambia strip where all the bars and restaurants are. However if you're looking for a quiet hotel away from it all, I would certainly recommend this place.

Vanuit het hotel loop je via de tuin direkt het strand op. Al het personeel is super vriendelijk en als je vragen hebt staan ze altijd voor je klaar. De kamer was eenvoudig maar netjes, enige probleem is dat er niet altijd water is of minimaal om te douchen. Misschien was dit niet in alle kamers een probleem. Ontbijt is eenvoudig maar zeker oke.

Til prisen er det et godt hotel. Internettet er ikke på alle værelser som der står oplyst på deres hjemmeside, og det som der er i receptionen er utrolig dårligt. Man kan nærmest ikke åbne en hjemmeside. Strømmen går hverdag fra middag og kommer tilbage ca. ved en aftensmads tid. Men igen det er Afrika og når man har vænnet sig til nogle få ting,så kan man sagtens nyde det. Det er nogle fine og store værelser. Igen meget godt til prisen.
