The location of the Palma Rima is excellent and the bungalows are a good size and in nice grounds. The staff are all excellent particularly the reception staff and money exchange (safe) man (Buba Demba) and all of the security and cleaning/maintenance staff who we had most dealings with. The breakfast is not the best however with limited choice. We also never ate or drank in the hotel due to the cost.

I absolutely hated this property and left a week early. Breakfast is limited and lacks variety. Poor and delayed response from management for an upgrade even though vacancies existed. Ground staff did their best. It took ages for my reservation to be sorted out when I arrived. Absolutely awful place.

I have stayed here many times and found the staff to be excellent. Large pool and great location for the bars and beach It is no 5 star hotel but you get value for money and a feeling of space as you walk around the grounds

Made me pay extra for aircon and a fridge around £80 for a week . Hotel staff brilliant, breakfast pretty average. Restaurant food prices ridiculous compared to local restaurant prices . Also had numerous issues with my partner bringing her friend in to the hotel for drinks .I wouldn’t stay there again

A great way to spend a couple of weeks
Plenty of room to move around, spacious pool area with great bar and screens for watching the World Cup. Approachable management and friendly staff with a desire to help and assist you. So handy for the beach and all the amenities of Palma Rima road Lie by the huge pool with a cool drink and watch the palm trees sway in the breeze

Lovely hotel. Lovely people. Shit Wi-Fi.
Me and my friend decided to book two nights at Palma Rima to celebrate my birthday. We booked the stay an hour before we got there, and therefore there was some confusion about the check-in. Once we got in we was able to enjoy the nice pool area and the beautiful facilities. The service was very good and people are very friendly. The biggest drawback was the internet. And that was something we heard other guests complain about over and over again. We decided to visit a nice hotel to relax and connect with our family and friends, but we were not able make a simple video-call even though we sat in the reception where the internet should be best.

Nice big pool with plenty of sun loungers & shade. Pretty basic rooms but quite big if you stay in the bungalows. However terrible mattresses with springs sticking through that made for a poor night's sleep, even with two of these rubbish mattresses on the beds it wasn't much better. Breakfast was decidedly average every morning. We wouldn't return and certainly can't recommend.

The photos advertised online are of hotel bungalows and NOT the standard hotel rooms which are like prison cells with old furniture and uncomfortable beds, their was no fridge or tv which is normally standard at most hotels but was available for rent at £40 a week extra. Breakfast was the same everyday, (full English option) with tea, coffee or juice. The only decent part of the hotel was the lobby, the pool area and some bungalows but are very hot and stuffy with no air-con unless you pay for it. (I know this because I had relatives stay in one) AVOID THE STANDARD ROOMS AND GET A BUNGALOW IF YOUR REALLY NEED TO BOOK THIS HOTEL.

BAD HOTEL CLOSE TO BEACH.
dirty bed wear and towels, too old floor cover.Fun so noisy and look will fall down on the head. The room full with mosquitoes.weak cleaning. Breakfast poor- small choice, for last people no what to eat. Staff is standing around you and looking on you as they wanted to take off food what you are eating. In dinner too small portions what staff putting on your dishes. Too expansive- for one person - 34, for two - 37 per night. Don`t advice nobody this hotel.

Bargain winter break
Stayed for a week, which I think about the right time. Not going to slate the hotel as you cannot compare with the likes of Spain or Egypt! This is Gambia and very poor, however the place was clean and the staff couldn't do enough for you! Lots of bars/restaurants nearby and the beach is nice. Yes u do get pestered by locals although a lot of them just want to talk to you, most are wanting to sell you something. We did not feel intimidated at all but it does get a little annoying after a while. Breakfast at the hotel was adequate and the snacks at the petite cafe were great at lunchtime, beer cheaper there than at the shine bar too! Room was in the block and to be fair was fine, roomy and clean! We didn't use ceiling fan as no need to, not baking hot! We looked out onto wasteland and local market which we found really interesting to watch - the real gambia and how the people live. I would recommend the hotel for the price paid it was great just don't expect luxury.

Great location, amazing staff.
Good base. Very basic, but needs some big investment. The staff are a huge credit, and don't deserve the way they're treated by management. They're penniless and hungry, but leftover food is thrown away. The hotel ownership do not deserve our hard-earned money.

The Staff are lovely and friendly; the only let down was the front desk manager who was quite authoritative with staff and sometimes guests especially when he was proven to have made booking errors and was unwilling to back down or apologise for any mix ups. The property itself is set out on an expansive size of land set in green vegetation, some unkempt but some nice gardening in the guest areas.The swimming pool is large in space and size. Bungalow rooms were spacious but don't expect modern furnishing. Bedding was clean with a daily fresh supply of towels although make sure you check them first as I did end up with a few stained ones. Hot water is luke warm but bearable for a shower. location is good as at the junction of a main highway and the short road that leads to the beach. Senegambia main strip is a short 10min taxi drive for food/nightlife/shopping/beach or take a stroll down to the beach at the bottom of the road, passing a smattering of craft stalls, restraunts and bars on the way. The local bumpsters can be quite prevalent outside (locals who try to sell you everything and anything) but it goes with the territory in the tourist areas ,pretty much like any other tourist destination where its local people are scraping a living. There is plenty more food, accommodation, and entertainment just a few blocks away from the tourist area which are much cheaper and you have the added realness factor of being amongst the local Gambian culture, food, and entertainment.

Good hotel close to everything
Th hotly is in a good location with bars and restaurants close by and only a short taxi ride to Senegambia. The hotel grounds and pool are lovely, service was good and the breakfast was excellent. The only negative was the loud music around the pool which played non-stop throughout the day from 10am.

Friendly hotel with an African feel
We use Palma rima as a centre for our travels around The Gambia. It is clean comfortable and the staff could not be more helpful.

The service on this hotel is so bad especially in the reseption and gate, that it is better to avoid to stay here. There are so many nice hotels to choose from in Gambia so dont end up with Palmarima!!

The staff are excellent. Friendly, and helpful. They really care that you are cared for and all needs met. A big thank you to Jacob our cleaner. A lovely place to stay . Only one thing a bit of a problem was the price of shorts at the bar. We were only b and b.something for everyone .Always ,eggs , beans, toast , cereal, juice, tea or coffee.

I WOULD NEVER GO BACK TO THIS HOTEL!!!!!
well to start i went with my partner and there were single beds in every room in the hotel! the management (Mr Par) was very rude to my visitor and this was very embarassing for me..there was also another man on the reception that was just as rude (i don't know his name) the room was very basic and wasn't worth the money i paid...no batteries in the remote control so couldn't watch tv, would cost 3,500 gd to hire a fridge!!!!! no aircon unless you pay more,

Hej jag blev besviken på rummet som luktade mycket unket. Ofräscha lakan som luktade gammalt. Fick byta rum och det blev bättre då. Fuktfläckar på gardinerna. En apa sprang lös så jag vågade knappt ha balkongdörren öppen. Apan hoppade fram vid frukosten också. Kändes farligt. Frukosten var dålig.

Me and my partner had over 2 weeks of vacation, staying at Palma rima, standard room and last few days bungalow. Its not a luxury hotel but was perfect for my taste with helpful charming staff, everyday cleaning, I like the pool area and the gym. Would absolutely come back.

Palma Rima er et enkelt hotell, men har likevel det man trenger på en ferie. Beliggenheten er utmerket, 300 meter fra en av Gambiasjåfør fineste strender, nær hovedvei der man lett kan få billig, lokal transport, nær et velassorterte supermarked, og nær flere restauranter og barer. Palma Rima utmerker seg med et uvanlig stort - og rent - svømmebasseng. Renholdet er generelt godt på hele hotellet, det samme er sikkerheten. Wi-Fi finnes, men bare i enkelte områder, og svært tregt. Bungalow-rommene er store og luftige, med terrasse, i en fredelig hage. Man betaler ekstra for å bruke AC. Kjøleskap og vifte kan bestilles, også mot betaling. De billigste rommene, i en blokk, er greie dersom man får rom ut mot havet. Rommene som vender mot bassengområdet er svært varme. Rommene i blokken har vifte, men ikke AC. Hotellets kjøkken er det svakeste punktet. Men det er altså kort vei til andre restauranter.

Friendly and safe.
Peaceful and friendly hotel, close to one of the best beaches, and also close to Gambian everyday life. Rooms are basic, but very clean. Beds are ok. Pool is clean, and large enough for a real swim. The staff is friendly and forthcoming. Many guests are regulars, choosing this Hotel year after year. I am one of those. Last two years a few members of the staff have started to beg guests for financial support. You will find more fancy hotels, but Palma Rima is a good Choice if you want a peaceful holiday. About safety: I fell asleep several nights with the key in the lock - outside. Just forgot tok lock the door. And my room-mate once left the room without locking, and even forgot the key in the lock. After a while, a member of the staff where running all over the Hotel, searching for my room-mate, in order to deliver the key.
