Old school full of surprises

The check In clerk was helpful, informative and friendly! We loved the restaurant with a fine view, pool and hot tub and the Piano BAr was a real musical treat. Great value!

great view

Staff was helpful in cancelling second night, since wife was ill and couldn't join me. Also, room confirmed said no view, but I was lucky enough to get a nice room with lovely view.

Older hotel, but great location

Posted Aug 9, 2017
Pros: Location and cleanliness.
Cons: While the bathroom was clean, it needed shelves for toiletries. We had to live out of our shaving kit/cosmetic bag, which is a slight hassle.
We were a little disappointed when we drove up, but we didn't come to Acadia to sit in a motel room, so we decided we'd be fine. Over our four-day stay, we grew to like the place. The location is outstanding - five minutes from Acadia's visitor center, and two minutes to downtown Bar Harbor. The room was clean and well kept, and the continental breakfast was good enough to get us going in the morning.

Very nice hotel experience!

Posted Aug 6, 2017
Pros: Staff, breakfast, view, and very large size room
Cons: When we arrived, the toilet paper was hung wrong (see photo). Better laugh was after the room was made up in the morning, the paper was flipped over.
Location: Perfect location. Close to town and Acadia. Boat tours, great restaurants, shops, and more all right there. Shuttle service is great.
I was very impressed with our stay at the Wonder View Inn! Ok, it's not a new luxury hotel so if that's what you want, sorry. What you do get is a very well kept, clean hotel room and attention from the staff that is second to none. I was impressed that every time I went by the office, the guy at the desk welcomed me and called me by name. They were very informative about every thing at the hotel and in town. I had a rental car problem and they offered to help in any way they could. We had booked a room with a view, and while this hotel is not right on the water, it is up high enough on a hill to have a beautiful view of the harbor. (see photos). There is also a free shuttle service into town with a stop at the hotel. This worked out great because parking in town can be difficult. The shuttle goes to the center of town where you can get other shuttles to other parts of the island. The hotel is also close enough to town that you could walk if you wanted. It's an easy 0.9 mile walk. It's also very close to the entrance of Acadia National Park. Breakfast was surprisingly good! Much better than we expected. Standard cereals, toasts, bagels, pastries (which were very fresh), fruits, etc. I was impressed with the Jimmy Dean sausage egg and cheese biscuits in a refrigerator to put in a microwave. They also had various types of muffins and more. Was very good. I've stayed in Bar Harbor many times, including at one of the high end hotels, but have found my new home

Very conveniently located and walking distance to Main Street. The rooms are very nice, with nice glass windows opening to a lawn. The room was clean and adequately furnished. Excellent, no frills choice for a holiday.

Nice inn, very close to the city. Old facilities

Posted Jul 19, 2017
We had a nice big room with two king size bed, that was very nice for a family of four. The facilities are a bit old and need renovation and breakfast was basic.

Great location. Affordable

The Wonderview isn't a 5 star hotel, but they don't claim to be. The room was comfortable and large and clean. The location is great - about a 10 min walk to downtown BarHarbor. The walk back is uphill so you feel the day's hike/bike in your legs at the end of the day. The onsite restaurant lookingglass has excellent breakfast (I didn't have dinner there but it looked good on the menu) and great views. There is also a deck with a community fire. I will stay there again next time.
