Idyllic retreat with great viewsPosted Nov 3, 2015
Pros: Nice location, good staff. A quiet eco-friendly retreat with lots of options.
Cons: There was an issue with the wifi, so hopefully that is resolved soon!
Location: Relax and swim at the hotel, or visit the spa, visit the beaches (not the best in DR), hike/cycle in the mountains or try the zip line.
I enjoyed my time at Casa Bonita, set in a idyllic location between the mountains and the ocean it offered a nice retreat and a relaxing atmosphere in an eco-friendly package. Nicely laid out, with good service, lots of extras available and beautifully, locally-sourced food. I would recommend Casa Bonita as a quick weekend retreat of for longer stays in which to better explore the area.

Barahona Dominican Republic Get AwayPosted Oct 25, 2015
Pros: The environment/views, the ability to kick back and relax, eat drink and be merry and of course the wonderful staff that took care of us!
Cons: The worst part of the trip was the transportation. Taxi costs $200, from airport, make sure the auto is clean and full of gas! 3 hrs turned to 4.5!
Location: Location is out there! We went to the Villa for some private time at the pools, breathtakingly beautiful! We took advantage of the solitude!
We arrived at Casa Bonita very late, to our surprise the hotel staff was waiting for us! We received a wonderful and friendly welcome by the Hotel Mgr, Antonio, and his staff. I think they checked us in quickly, took our bags to our room (very nice since there were a few stairs and were tired). I believe they kept the kitchen open late for us, which was wonderful because we had not eaten. The restaurant was very nice, quiet and we received great service, no rushing at all. It would have been helpful if we spoke some spanish, but we all managed. The next day, after breakfast, we were given a driven tour of the facilities, spa, garden, walking trails, etc. We also visited Villa Miram (?), for a few hours, the hotel provided transportation to and from, and even packed a cooler for us... which was very much appreciated. This is definitely a place to go to for decompressing! We enjoyed the pool, spa, food and hiking! Absolutely beautiful! Take a book and enjoy the views and the sounds of nature, even includes a Rooster in the morning to wake you from your deep sleep!

Great View - Good getaway hotel for couplesPosted Jun 8, 2015
Pros: Pool Views
Cons: Probably restaurant menu, Would like to see more simple snacks
Location: Must go to Villa Miriam, has natural waterfalls with really cold waters.
I stayed for 2 days, Hotel has amazing view. It is a small hotel, only 1 restaurant. a bit expensive but food is GREAT. The best thing of this hotel is the surroundings. Barahona has everything from the best beaches, mountains, natural caves, rivers ALL!! I recommend if you stay here explore the nature, you wont be disappointed.

Nice HotelPosted May 25, 2015 on Hotels
Nice hotel to go with your partner, I recommend making the effort and stay in the suite, with private pool on the balcony. The price is quite expensive in all rooms. Have problems with internet connection, better forget about the computer and smart phones. There is also no phones in the rooms. The staff is very friendly and always try to help you. The hotel will be expanded and are working towards perfection. Antonio Fidel and Mayra are excellent hosts. Would return without hesitation.

A GemPosted Apr 22, 2015
We had a little trouble finding the hotel, but once there we did t want to leave. It's a great piece of property and the staff is happy to take you on a jeep tour. The zip line is great. The restaurant and pool area are lovely and relaxing. The staff was gracious and friendly. If you are looking for only a beach stay this is not the place, but you are looking for relaxation and a bit of adventure you hit the jackpot. The spa is fabulous as well. We will definitely return and have recommended it to friends.

Elegant and calming. Terrific wait staff!Posted Dec 9, 2014
Nestled amongst the hills of Barahona sit's this wonderful spot. It's romantic, with stunning sea views and twinkling lights. The wait staff is wonderful as is the food served. Note you are paying more than the norm in these parts but worth every cent. I think an upgraded room is in order if you expect more. We did not and noticed some simple needed fixes. That said, I'd go back in a blink.

Perfect Relaxing Getaway!Posted Sep 2, 2014 on Hotels
The hotel is perfectly nestled in a small mountain in front of the beach. It is basically one of the few hotels in the area. Rooms are very nice, great views, the infinity pool is wonderful with amazing views. The staff is great! Everyone knows you and tries to make your stay very enjoyable! The spa was wonderful, but it is a "nature friendly" concept, so you have to be prepared to see some weird animals.
