Gay Hotel

We were misinformed by Expedia . My girlfriend and I were not told that this Hotel was for Gay men . There were naked pics of men all over the hotel This is misadvertisment at its finest Another terrible job by Expedia

Checked in three times over a 3-week period. Got interior rooms as requested, quiet as a tomb 24/7. Great!

Convenient Hotel in Central City/Excellent Staff

Pros: I think I said it above.
Cons: Certain amenities for this American could have been included- a coffee maker & an alarm clock/radio would have been very helpful & appreciated.
Location: Great location for a gay traveler since all the bars, clubs, saunas are nearby w/in walking distance as well as convenient to the central city.
I read the reviews of Axel & loved the idea that it was gay friendly BUT it exceeded my expectations. First & foremost, the staff was excellent, very friendly, attentive and helpful at all times; the manager especially must be lauded for his attention to detail and attempts to make my stay as comfortable and pleasant as possible. The room also was gr8t- large w an extremely comfortable bed & balconies, large shower, & very clean. What more can I say except the hotel, for me, was excellent and a very good deal.

Clean modern vibe. Centrally located.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast was delightful with the many choices. The staff at the restaurant are very attentive to each guest. The staff at the Axel are great in every way.

Nice stay, but beware of Dynamic Currency scam!

Pros: Great location. This hotel is very gay friendly; their slogan is actually "hetero friendly." Our upgraded room was very clean and spacious.
Cons: The hotel could be more honest about offering the Dynamic Currency Conversion. It is supposed to be offered and not just used. I think it is scammy.
Location: This hotel is located centrally in the Eixample neighborhood. The Universitat Aerobus stop is closer to the hotel than Catalunya but is drop off only.
We had an overall nice stay at this hotel, but we had a bad experience at check in. I was presented a charge card slip to sign that was considerably higher than my Expedia reservation confirmation which had both the Euro rate and an approximate amount in USD. I mentioned that to the check in clerk and he advised me it was because they charged me in USD. I said I prefer to be charged in Euro because I was familiar that if I accepted the charge in USD that it was a very poor rate. He advised me that I was already charged the full amount for 3 nights in USD because I had passed the time to cancel my reservation without penalty. The Expedia website lists the penalty as "Cancellations or changes made after 11:59AM (W. Europe Daylight Time) on Mar 4, 2017 or no-shows are subject to a property fee equal to the first nights rate plus taxes and fees" and I was charged the entire amount. I refused to sign the charge slip since it has a phrase on it that said I was offered a choice of currencies, which was untrue. The clerk refunded the USD charge and re-billed me in Euro. The amount that ultimately showed up on my bill was only $0.06 different (less) than the Dynamic rate. We were given an upgraded room with a balcony for our inconvenience. Our room had a balcony which was very nice for enjoying a glass of wine in the evening. The hotel is very clean and our shower had excellent pressure. Our room rate didn't include breakfast, but many restaurants and cafes are close by.

Great location and comfort

Slightly overpriced but the experience is worth it. Great location and facilities. Staff are friendly if a little snooty times. Not my first stay st an Axel hotel and not my last.
