Enjoyable First Stay

Posted Mar 8, 2017
Pros: 20 minutes cab-ride from airport. 10 minute walk into town centre. Poolside dining for breakfast, lunch or supper. Thursday afternoon "Musicfest"
Cons: Soundproofing: noise in room from 8a-11a Mon-Fri from nearby "Pickleball" courts was annoying Sceptic system: could be improved to accept toilet paper
Location: Lots of restaurants with great food. Deep-sea fishing trips and beach picnics to do. Inexpensive transport to nearby towns and beaches available.
Enjoyed sunshine and warm temps for 15 & 1/2 days out of 16. Hotel staff very friendly and helpful. (Some speak English - some cannot but try). Barra is a safe place to walk about, even at night. (However, would still prefer a short cab ride from town to hotel after dark.) Many restaurants and bars to choose, all with good food. Loved the laundromat service available in town. Shopkeepers and "beach vendors" were all polite and not pushy. Location more suited for adult vacations... not a lot for kids to do.

Nicest hotel in Barra de Navidad

Posted Jan 2, 2017
Pros: The hotel has very friendly staff and most speak English. The facilities were comfortable (pool, swim up bar, air con. cleanliness, food).
Cons: There were no luxuries (fluffy towels/bathrooms/hair dryer) and the sheets weren't clean every day.
Location: The location worked out as it was just a five minute cab ride to Mellaque (where we visited family). There is no ocean view but there is a canal dock.
We chose Cabo Blanco because the flight/hotel package worked for our budget and dates. Although there is no ocean view, the hotel dock on the canal does give a bit of water view and breeze. From the dock it is easy to hire a boat for an ocean ride. The pool and deck aren't very big for the number of rooms but other that the holiday season, it didn't seem to be too busy and crowded. The restaurant was busy at breakfast (as this meal was included in fee) but deserted for lunches and dinners. The servers and desk staff were very friendly and accommodating. This was the nicest hotel in Barra de Navidad, and possibly in Mellaque, Villa Obregon, and San Patricio (three nearby small towns). We would go again and will recommend it to our friends.

Disappointing

Posted Feb 25, 2016
Pros: Staff was friendly and helpful.
Cons: Room needs a remodel. Bathroom tub and tile very dingy and old. Sink, toilet, faucet and tile all need some serious updating.
Location: I arrived in the evening and left late morning the next day.
I was only there one night. The hotel is in need of some updating.

Don't stay more than a few days.

Posted Feb 17, 2016
Pros: Convenient for a one night stay. Not full. Pool area was nice.
Cons: Rooms and outside building areas need updating. The plant areas were nice.
Location: It's a small town so everything is within walking distance.
Old hotel. OK for one night stay. Easy walk to town/restaurants. Nice pool area.

A bit of a walk or drive to the heart of Barra de Navidad but the grounds and pool are definitely a plus.

A little far from center of town and the beach

Posted Jan 23, 2016
Pros: Very nice layout, well groomed grounds, nice pool and the staff was very friendly, polite and helpful. It is a great place for sport fishermen.
Cons: Wifi could be in the rooms and not just poolside and in the lobby
Location: The hotel is on the outskirts of the town of Barra de Navidad, a quiet town where travelers and natives interact nicely.
The experience started with the room that had been reserved for me to be way in the back of everything. I was not happy about that. I was offered a poolside room for an additional $ 10 per night. I opted for that and was happy with that room. The employee, that took care of me, probably manager was extremely polite and helpful.

Wonderful pool and staff.

Posted Jan 18, 2016
Pros: The entire atmosphere is very friendly from check in to wait staff to cleaning personnel. The pool is as wonderful as ever. Short stroll to town.
Cons: Stronger coffee.
Location: It is a short walk into the village center so this hotel is quieter than those on the playa or in town. Good food at the hotel and great food in town.
Was very pleased with our room this year which seemed to have been upgraded since last spring. Very nice quiet new air conditioner and comfortable bed. The Iquana outside in the shrubbery was a nice touch as well. Lounging beside that beautiful pool is what a vacation is all about.
