If WiFi is important to you, DON'T stay here!

Posted Jan 13, 2017 on Hotels
Solidly a 3 star hotel i.e. just "okay" HORRIBLY SLOW wifi was a major drag! Sending WhatsApp messages with pictures failed 3 times out of 4 on it. The elevators are old, slow, and rickety. 1 out of 2 was broken entirely on the day I checked in, and on the day I check out. In between I was always was afraid I might get stuck in one. Nice looking swimming pool ... but I figured out by the third day that the water was irritating my eyes. I was unable to wear my contact lenses much of my trip. I don't know if they use chlorine at all. At least the the staff was courteous and 90% of the time somebody was on duty who spoke English. Food at breakfast was good too. Lobby is bright and well kept and the rooms were kept clean.

The hotel service is very rude and unprofessional. Not all, but some.

Worn down hotel with nice pool area

Posted Jan 12, 2016 on Hotels
Stayed 3 nights as a couple. The property is arguably in one of the best locations in Barra, Salvador. 20 meters walk to the beach. On the same strip you will find many restaurants. The hotel is worn down. Old. The rooms are damp and there is mold in the bathrooms and closets. The beds and other furniture are old and worn down as well. The elevators are a big problem as most of the time you end up waiting forever for them. There is a nice pool outside. Really good lunch buffet in the poolside bar and sometimes you will get live music. The pool area is a safety oasis from the Barra venue, which can be full of crack addicts at night time. There is a super interesting (in a weird way) gym upstairs which does the job actually. You need to renew an Internet voucher every single day to get WiFi. And it works on one device at a time. Only 2 receptionists spoke English so youd better know Portuguese os Spanish. Overall, this was not a pleasant stay.

This hotel is very basic. We only stayed for 2 nights so we didn't expect much and that's what we received. The location is right on the beach so that was great.

Cheap, nice hotel close to the beach

In front of street works. Good breakfast, good rooms, good pool, great location. Poor cable TV and small tvs in rooms.

What I expected

Posted Jul 7, 2014 on Hotels
This hotel is not fancy. But it was perfect for what we needed, which was an overnight stay in Salvador, before going to our next destination. It's a short cab drive to Pelourinho and the Port. Simple, but decent. One thing I really disliked was the the toilet itself. The seat was horrible, made of plastic that would come out of its place every time you sit on it.

Nice common areas, breakfast room a bit grim. Breakfast nice. Staff very nice. Security excellent. Location really good. Rooms okay bathrooms need work, they seem to be doing that. Half the hotel seems to be Aussie guests.

The people were great and spoke english which was unusual in Brazil. The location was great but the noise level was high.
