Beds very soft and small. The shower gel ran out on day two of a five day stay and was not replenished. Breakfast was really disappointing. Close to trans and buses which is a positive and the local restaurants being only one street away was a benefit. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Need of better maintenance
Good location. Close to public transportation. Good price. Poor upkeep and maintenance. First room had no power because light fixtures needed installed so breakers were off. Next room was better but could not use outlets unless lights were on. Could not charge phones overnight unless we left the lights on. As others have reported, the sinks don’t drain well. Not major but kind of gross. With some better maintenance I would have given full credit.

Nice comfortable hotel.
I enjoyed my stay at the apalivung hotel the staff were very friendly & helpful. The room was spacious & the bed very comfortable, the room was warm too.Its a few minutes walk to the trams & buses resturants & shops.The Basel card you can buy at the hotel is very good it allows you to travel on trams & buses plus discounts.I would stay there again

No Aircon made stay very uncomfortable.
This was my third time staying in Apaliving, Basel...but the first in Summer (Aug 2019). To say the room at night was like a sauna is an understatement, because there’s no air conditioning. The fan in the room did nothing to cool it down below 25 degrees which made it extremely hot, sweaty and uncomfortable. Would not stay during the warm summer months again.

Excellent Budget Hotel
Very good budget hotel, clean, friendly and checkin/out pretty flexible and hotel staff keen to help you. If staying in summer may be worth bringing an extra travel fan as there is no A/C so rooms can get very hot!

Alright if you get a good price.
Room could have been a bit cleaner but nothing major. Fan in room was welcome given the high temperatures. WiFi was on the slow side. Had to use 4G for video calls.

The property was easy to check in to on automated machine, as we arrived after the check in desk had closed. It was very clean and easy to access town. It had everything we needed at a good price.

I was out & about most of the day, but I would say it was a good stay overall. The room has a good space, the toilet & shower was clean. The bed was comfy, sheets were clean, cupboards were spacious. The television, the desk and chairs were added bonus. The complimentary coffee & tea was a plus, however, I would say they should replace the electric kettle with a new and fresh one. The tram stop is about 5 to 7 min walk from the hotel. The SBB train station is about 20 minutes walk thought there’s a tram one can take to the main train station.

Good if you're on a budget
This hotel is good if you're looking for a comfortable place at a decent price. Location is good a tad bit far from main attractions but not a problem since it's close to a tram station that will take you there quickly. I wish they had better curtains and shower curtains though. Ah there's also no breakfast but not to worry on that there are good cafes around. :)

check-in system with a machine is really convenient! The hotel is a little bit far from the station but it is worth staying here because of the low price. The room is really clean and bathroom is also good. I will recommend it!

Not having any staff on hand at night was a bit inconvenient several times, especially when needing to ask why the internet SUCKED. Otherwise it was a perfectly ok place. By far the cheapest option I could find, so....

Great for the price but no front desk
Good hotel for the price. Clean and comfortable and just 5 minutes from train station. The only negative: No front desk at all. Everything is thru an automated machine and check in can be very difficult like in my case. I had to call to a number so they could find my reservation also it wont be possible to storage your bags.

This hotel is very basic and you don't get the comforts of most hotels. It's small and the bed is just off the floor and super thin. Sheets aren't great and towels are old. If you are looking for budget and something clean its fine. don't expect the comforts of an american hotel... think a college dorm.

This hotel is very low budget. The bed is basically on the floor and the mattress is like a futon bed. For the money it is not so bad. Its very minimalistic.

Great budget hotel near to Basel SBB train station
Considering most motels and hotels near the SBB rail station are CHF200 or more, this was a steal. I traveled alone and found the room to be perfectly adequate. Sure, the TV is small and only has one English Channel. Sure there's no AC. But the hotel is within walking distance to SBB, grocery stores, restaurants, etc. 2 tram stations are nearby to bring you into the old city (Altstadt) for free (they give you a mobility card at check in.) If you send them an email prior to arrival, they provide door entry code and code to get your room key. They will even store your luggage during reception hours (7-5:30 during weekdays). Convenience without cost! My only negative would be the hard bed which I found difficult to sleep on since I like soft mattresses. Book this place already!

APA was a basic clean room. We stayed 3 nights in summer in 35 degree celcius temps which made it unbearable as there is no a/c or fan. The windows do open but without a breeze the still air is stiffling. APA is more of an apartment than a hotel. Location was good with 1 block to tram (one of them is directly a 5 min ride to the main train station). Staff were friendly and helpful. It would be good if the hotel description mentioned that access after office hours requires you obtain an entry code to get your key. They are very responsive and emailed it to us. They gave us a travel pass to get around town which was super handy. They don't offer breakfast but there are little groceries stores around plus a variety store across the road and Aldi down the next block. Would recommend it but not in heatwave conditions.

yes the hotel was ok and the room was adequite but we did not expect to have the room cleaned only once a week, and when I asked for new towels they said we only get one change a week otherwise you will have to pay for this service, the beds were very comfortable but being such a hot room at night you had no extracter fan and if you opened any windows there was a lot of noise from the road and very early morning lorries unloading...it would have been nice if they would have asked us if we would prefer to be out the back as I am a very light sleeper and could not sleep well at all. if you stay in a small hotel like this place you do get coffee and teabags every day, and do not have to pay for extra tea bags etc...so that was very disappointing...

Simple clean place
It was a great little room. I went to a conference that was being held just down the street and it was perfect. It is more of short stay apartment than a hotel. No daily cleaning no room service, but for the cost and convenience to my event it was perfect. Also it was a 10 minute walk to the train station which was convenient.

All in all, great place to stay. About a 20 min walk from train station or you can take a bus to a nearby stop. Clean bathrooms and bed. A little warm at night. My only complaint is the laundry room was a little dirty and seemed unsafe late at night but it was free.

This hotel provides comfortable, clean accommodation and rooms have a kettle and a good fridge. The room is apparently cleaned weekly - no cleaning during my five days. Not really an issue, and not changing towels and bed linen daily is an environmental plus anyway. The location is fairly convenient, by tram or bus (free for travellers), and a five-minute walk from the train station. The lack of reception staff outside office hours and the empty corridors may give the hotel a somewhat lonely feeling for some solo travellers at night and on weekends.

Don't call it a hotel. It's an apartment
I booked a hotel but is basically an apartment. There nobody at the reception after 5PM, there is no breackfast or coffe. It it terribly located for the business traveler. It doesn't even hava a telephone on the room! If you go out after 5PM you need to enter through the service door in the back. You shouldn't be advertising it as a hotel. It isn't.

We had a very comfortable night here before a Rhine River Cruise, but as it was a long weekend (public holiday Monday) the Hotel was completly unstaffed. We let ourselves in and out. Very odd, but the system worked

If you are looking for a safe, clean place in a great location in Basel at a great price, this hotel fits the bill. It is no frills...if you get there past 6pm, you'll have to call to get a code to get in the door and get your keys as there's no reception overnight. There's no breakfast. There's only a standard bodywash for body and hair...so bring your own products! I would stay here again because I felt safe and it was a great rate.

Perfectly acceptable and simple hotel. Shame the rooms don't get cleaned every day, we were there 4 days and the room wasn't touched. Pleasant staff, easy location to get to via tram.
