The Hotel Baslertor is located in the beautiful town of Muttenz just outside Basel. The hotel has a great staff, updated rooms, wonderful location with walkable shoppes and restaurants, and the transit system can get you anywhere quickly. Stay here when visiting Basel for a real small village swiss experience.

Nice Hotel
Very nice comfortable hotel. Great hosts, Great bed, conformable shower, Clean and good service! Super staff always willing to help out whatever you need! Recommend 1st floor, at higher levels it can get a bit warm (No airco allowed by local regulations in Muttenz). Great breakfast in COOP restaurant connected to hotel. Convenient next to COOP shop and very close to tramline 14 that leads into Basel

Nice, clean, fairly modern and reasonably priced. In warm weather tends to be too warm even with the provided fan. Air conditioning would be a definite "plus"

Most comfortable bed we’ve ever slept in (pillows too). Fantastic staff were very friendly and helpful (Flourina, Tobi, Rita, and Shael). Delicious breakfasts for a good price. Adjacent to a Coop market and small bakery. 7 minutes walk to the train depot (they provide a pass for 2 to travel free within a fair radius of Muttenz which saved us a lot of money). 3 minutes to the bus. Highly recommended!

Efficient hotel, nice staff.
Small details like a good water pressure, fan on the room, clean, where all in order. Reasonable COOP restaurant for breakfast. Fridge, coffee, tea on the room. Good bed. Friendly staff. They think the hotel will be upgraded in the next 2 years. Convenient next to supermarket and main street Mutternz (restaurants). Pleasant, affordable business hotel.

The property is very clean. The room was large and well lit. The parking is in a shared garage which was a little tricky to locate. The parking spaces were large and has a direct entrance to the hotel. The breakfast is a pass to the CO-OP restaurant which is adjoining to the hotel.

Clean & convenient to Basel & Family in Muttenz
The Baslertor Hotel was close to where our daughter and her family lives, so we booked it when we came for a family visit. It was a little confusing at first as to where to go to unload our luggage and enter the hotel at 21:15 when there was no one at the reception. Good thing we called to say that we were checking in after 21:00 and there was someone there to tell us the door code and to look for our key on the Reception Desk. We drove our car to the back door, but there was no key pad so had to go around to the front through the road construction to find the key pad to get in. Then we had to try several doors to get out again and back to our car to drive to the COOP parking garage entrance on the street behind COOP. From there we were able to enter the hotel and take the elevator up to our room which was very clean and quiet. We were so thankful for the little fan because it was so hot and difficult to sleep. We opened the windows wide and thankfully were not bothered by mosquitos. A couple of times we had difficulty connecting to WiFi because there were too many people online, but learned to scroll down the Login page to the second option to register online as a hotel guest for unlimited usage. We enjoyed the coffee making supplies for our first cups in the morning and will definitely come again when we visit our daughter and her family again!

Only 8-10 minute walk to a train station and the hotel has a grocery store built into it, which made shopping for food and snacks convenient! Staff were fantastic and rooms always clean. Only thing I wish I knew was that there was no AC in the rooms, but this seems to be common throughout Switzlerand. Overall, great hotel!

Arrived late and tired, very helpful reception staff sorted check in, parking.. and where to go close by for a reasonable italian meal (safe) Easy to find, but because it’s right beside a roundabout you probably will drive by... saying there’s our hotel!! No panic, loads of turning areas.. would I stay again , yes.

On arrival we got a lovely friendly welcome from Ronny, who was on reception. Ronny along with the rest of the staff were very helpful, giving us a lot of information throughout our 6 day stay. The hotel was comfortable and exceptionally clean. The breakfast was generous, plenty of choice, and fresh. The staff in the Co-op explained everything. The breakfast area, reached via the hotel was clean with plenty of seating. Staff very pleasant. A very welcome extra was the free Mobility Pass, which gave us unlimited free travel in the Basel region, on Trams/Buses/Trains for the duration of our stay. Also the free bottles of water each day. Many thanks to the hotel for making our stay a very pleasant one.

Clean and modern and no frills
The hotel was modern and clean with no frills but the staff were all very friendly and helpful, room service appeared instantly and it had a small bar & restaurant area. It's close to Basel's top businesses in the industrial areas, so it's great for business travellers. A couple of nice restaurants are just round the corner.

Excellent hotel for touring northern Switzerland
Used this hotel as a base from which to attend two, major, family birthday parties. It is ideally situated, being close to Basel and also close to the countryside and our relatives in Rickenbach. On arrival, the young receptionist could not have been more helpful and even gave us passes so that we could use the local Trams/Busses/Trains for free. We found the room to be spacious, very clean and comfortable. There is a car park and Gym on the premises and breakfast is served from the cafe on the ground floor, which also doubles as the cafe for the Co-op supermarket next door - also very convenient! If I had to pick a negative it would be the lack of air-con. Two nights of our stay were very warm and even with the windows open and the shutters back it was difficult to get the room to cool down.

Nice hotel, very friendly staff. Bed was good. Room was a decent size. Excellent shower pressure. Slightly annoying that there's only one ironing board in the hotel, which is a very small compact design and, bizarrely, bolted to the wall of the first floor corridor. The iron is a bit grimy from scale and has no water. You would have to bring a bottle with you to fill it up. You have to stand there badly ironing your shirts on this tiny ironing board in the corridor. However... if you don't need to do any ironing, this is a pretty good hotel. Breakfast was pretty nondescript but there are more interesting cafes relatively nearby.

Good hotel
Everything really nice and comfortable as you would expect. Very good service from the hotel staff!! The location is not very near the city, but you can walk to the S-bahn in 10 minutes and then it is one stop to the main station. The breakfast was ok, the room very spacious and hotel internet was usable. All in all I would stay in this hotel again.

Nice hotel, small lapses, but pleasant stay.
A very nice looking interior, sadly with a design that does not believe in plug outlets - there were none free in my room, and no adapters at reception, so one point off for that. Breakfast was very good on Saturday, characteristically Swiss, less good on Sunday, so another point lost there; the Sunday breakfast was definitely not worth the price charged (SFR 15), the room was well worth the money. Cleanliness and general appearance excellent.

2 minutes walk for free parking, Supermarket next door , 2 minute tram walk to centre and not far from Zurich. they charge to use of kitchenette , even if you have taken family room with kitchenette was only negative side of it .

In less you have a reason to stay all the way out in Muttenz I feel that its much more worth it to stay closer to Basel. I got stuck here because of Art Basel. Way over priced in my opinion. Most likely because of AB

The rooms were huge and clean, the amenities (soaps, water boiler, etc.) were good, and the comforters were comfortable. However, there was no air conditioning. If you don't have that, you should at the very least have bug screens over the windows, so that you can keep them open.

Great hotel if Muttenz is a suitable location for
8 mins walk or so from Muttenz S-bahn station and located next to a supermarket and within easy walk of the town centre (for restaurants etc). Very clean, comfortable, modern and quiet rooms. Good buffet breakfast. If Muttenz as a location works for you, then I can't really fault the hotel at all.

Baslertor Muttenz/Hotel - perfect for overnight
We were driving from Germany to Italy and needed a place to stay just overnight. This hotel is perfect with Parking nextdoor and personnel is ultra-nice. For visiting Basel we would probably try it if going by car, but it's quite distant from the city centre. Only minus is that no dinner is served after 6 p.m. in the hotel restaurant. However there are a few restaurants in the neightbourhood.
