Overrated hotel

Posted Jul 14, 2017
The room needs refurbishment - and it smelled, just weird. I should have complained, but was too tired the first night, and then just kind of put up with it. I guess everything was alright, just not great... Meh!

Short break in Biarritz based at Radison Blu

Posted Jun 26, 2017
Pros: The hotel was bright and modern and the rooms were large, and well equipped with kettle, safe, and even an iron and ironing board.
Cons: We were happy with almost everything except the breakfast which was a bit cold. We quickly learnt to ask for a cheese omelette which was freshly made,
Location: Easy to reach by taxis and perhaps not far by bus, - but we were feeling lazy. Try the bar at the side of the hotel. Visit Bayonne. Avoid train.
We flew to Biarritz on the Tuesday flight from Birmingham and arrived at the airport about 1:00 pm. .A 13 Euro taxi quickly took us to the hotel and after a rapid check-in we had time to start our exploration of the area. Biarritz is a very long sandy beach surrounded by hills. The hotel is on one such hill and there is a long winding road down to the beaches. The beach directly below the hotel was covered by the high tide that existed at that moment but at other times we saw that it is a broad swath of sand, popular with many surfers. Other beaches became in sight as we headed down to the centre, following the coastal road. We had a quick beer in the first fishing port that we saw but were unimpressed by that generally and resolved not to return. There are many rocky islands scattered along this section and one has a boarded bridge to it, a tunnel through the rock and a view along the coast. Our walk continued down to the main beach and to the Hotel du Palais. All of this was done in bright sunshine at about 30C. Slowly we returned up the hill via the Rue Gabionette to the hotel. The swimming pool on the roof of the hotel was like a warm bath, not very refreshing. The large beer was better. Next day was even hotter and we spent time on a small beach which had limited shade but very safe bathing. Our last full day was cloudy and significantly cooler. We tried to go to St Jean du Luz, via train. Not a success! ...No more room to tell more....

Nice hotel and roof top view

close to the beach and city center. Lots of places walking distance to eat and entertainment. Kind of slow in the offseason

Convenient and confortable stay.

Posted Oct 31, 2016 on Hotels
Friendly staff, offer to help parking the car on site, underground hotel own garage (reasonable charges) Help with luggage. The room was a good size with nice beds, confortable pillows and well furnished: classic style, plenty of storage area, with street frontage and partial views of the water in the distance. Lunch at the roof top restaurant was very nice, good food and friendly and efficient service. Unfortunately the carpets in the corridor leading to the rooms were stained which gives a wrong impression of the hotel. The hotel shows some aging but in general it does not take away from the comforts it offers. Very convinient to the town and the beach. Nice stroll back after dinner.

expensive but worth it

Posted Sep 12, 2016
Fabulous pool and bar area on the roof with great views over Biarritz. A 15 min uphill scenic walk back from town and beach but great to come back after a long hot day to swim in the pool. Restaurant on the roof looks good and not too expensive but didn't try it as prefer the buz of the in town bars.
