Great Position - hotel convenient to City

Posted Apr 24, 2017
Pros: Staff were friendly. Hotel clean and food good.
Location: Lots to see for a weekend break, if you arrive in the afternoon visit the centre around 6pm. Pedestrian free. Nice restaurants.
The staff were very pleasant and we were greeted with lots of information, I would recommend staying, it was lovely and clean, my only issue was our room, it was not what I expected from a hotel of this standing and the price paid. The bath room lacked a separate shower and there was no bidet. The room itself was small. Having just visited Kuwait where I paid a similar price there was no comparison.

Dear Neville, Thank you for taking the time and trouble to pass on your helpful feedback. Whilst we are pleased that overall you enjoyed your stay here in Bath we are disappointed to hear that our bathrooms do not compare favourably to Kuwait and thank you for that advice. yours sincerely, Keith Turnbull

Beautiful old Manir House and gardens.

Posted Apr 6, 2017
Pros: Look. History. Views. Position.
Cons: Shower head.... Lower down with more pressure.
Great place to stay out of the hustle and bustle of Bath. Easy bus ride into the centre of town. We visited at the start of the tourist season, so it wasn't crazy busy. Although we stayed in the new area of the hotel, it was pleasant and had no issues. My only thing would be the shower head.... It was a rain shower which isn't the greatest for water pressure. But the was a minor thing for me.

We had an amazing stay. The staff here are lovely!

Posted Feb 27, 2017
Great stay. Amazingly comfy bed. I would say there were only 2 things that we were unhappy with. Firstly the shower had little to no pressure which was a big disappointment because it looked like it would be good! Also in the information folder it said you could connect your phone via bluetooth to the tv. This didnt seem to be the case. We spoke to a man (i wish i knew his name) who handled the situation amazingly and was lovely! This were only little inconveniences. All in all was a great weekend and we will def come and visit this hotel again!

A taste of luxury

Posted Feb 22, 2017
Location: The hotel is based outside of Bath town centre, but there are several buses that go from near the driveway leading to the hotel directly to town.
My first time staying here, and it was an amazing experience. The decor of the mansion house part is wonderful - full of character. The staff were very friendly, full of local knowledge - like the best way to get to/from Bath town centre - and helpful. I stayed two nights and dined in their Cloister's restaurant on the first night - the food was some of the best I've eaten, the wait-staff were knowledgable about their wine list and could offer recommendations. I had a room in part of the new building, so I didn't have a great view from my window, but the room itself was very well appointed - lovely decor, a very comfortable bed and an excellent selection of hot beverages available in the room with fresh milk. First hotel I've ever been to that had fresh milk in the room. A very nice touch.

Not what I thought i was booking

Posted Feb 20, 2017
Pros: the location.
Cons: yes they need to make it very clear you are not staying in the old part of the house and some add on from the 80's or 90's. The rooms were noisy.
I thought we would be staying in a lovely old manor but instead were placed in the annex in very average hotel rooms. They were fine and clean but dated and looked NOTHING like the pictures on expedia and their website. i had such a terrible sleep. You could hear people walking in the rooms above you. i was woken at 12 midnight and 3am from people walking in the room above. Also a cell phone kept going off in the middle of the night. It was turned off but it was on a hard surface and you could hear it buzzing- crazy!! happened 3 times during the night not sure where it was coming from. I would not book this hotel again especially considering how much we paid, 420 pounds for 2 rooms. I could have gone somewhere else and got 1 suite with lovely decor.

Dear guest, Thank you for taking the time and trouble to pass on your helpful feedback. I am sorry to hear hat you did not enjoy a good nights sleep. We will review our web presence again but feel that we have made it clear that most of our bedrooms are in Bailbrook court as is reflected by two thirds of our photogaphs on Expedia. Only our 13 feature rooms and suites are situated in the Mansion House building. your sincerely Keith Turnbull

Reminiscent of Torquay's most famous hotel.

Pros: Breakfast and Breakfast Staff.
Cons: Value for money could be greatly improved. Service could be greatly improved. Particularly bar staff and managers.
Location: Bath is a great place to visit and there lots of fun things to do. But in terms of a place to stay, you can do much better than Bailbrook House.
Bailbrook House was a mix of good and bad, but the overall experience was disappointing. High points were the breakfast, the breakfast staff and the grounds. Low points included: * The building - the photo is of a grand manor house, the reality is that most of the rooms are in a modern, unattractive concrete bunker behind the manor house. * Eating in - one night we decided to eat in. Service was slow. Very. Had to go to the bar multiple times and ask them to come and take our orders. Food was overpriced, slow to come, and was reheated. While we were quietly and patiently waiting, we had to listen to a manager, more than a little reminiscent of Basil Fawlty, fawning at great length over some customers who gave every appearance of wanting to be left alone. While other customers were wondering whether they would ever be served. we twice asked for water. We are still waiting. I ended up taking medication without it. * The Room - first room was not what we had booked. The replacement room was what we had booked, but it was not what we expected - the promotional material seemed misleading to us.

Dear Phil May I thank you for taking the time and trouble to pass on your most constructive comments following your stay of 13th February. I was most disappointed to read of the shortfalls in our service in the bar that you describe and would like to apologise for the disappointment caused over dinner. May I assure you that swift corrective action will be taken to avoid repetition. Our bedrooms however are fully described on our website and all third party booking engines as to where they are located and what they contain. I am sorry that they were not to your liking. With renewed apologies. Keith Turnbull General Manager May I assure you that I have met with our restaurant and bar manager today and swift remedial coaching is taking place to avoid repetition of this unfortunate situation for our guests.

Lovely old mannor house

brilliant couple of days at this hotel. Our room was ready on arrival even though we were early. Quick check in, and room large with sitting area, huge bed and nice large bathroom. We opted for an executive king room which was in the annexe. Breakfast was of a good quality and plenty of choice. Cold buffet and menu for other options. Friday morning the hot option was also in buffet form but was still of a good quality. The hotel is situated about 2 miles outside the city centre and a bus stops just outside the driveway. We opted to walk into town and it was pretty straight forward. We walked back along the canal stopping off in the George pub for a couple of drinks and dinner. Highly recommend the food here. Roman baths are amazing and worth every penny of the entrance fee. This is a good hotel for a short visit to Bath, most of the staff we encountered were helpful and friendly, especially Davido front of house in the restaurant, Would definitely stay here again if in Bath

Exceptional in every way

Posted Jan 25, 2017
Pros: Everything about this hotel was excellent, particularly the dining experience in the cloisters, and the wine list with very affordable prices.
Cons: A very minor point - the seal on the shower door could be improved
Location: A full-day bus pass from the foot of the drive gives you quick access to the city centre, with all the historical sites of this two-century-old city
This hotel was recommended by friends from Brighton, and our experience certainly lived up to the "hand-picked hotel" description.
