Reminiscent of Torquay's most famous hotel.

Bailbrook House was a mix of good and bad, but the overall experience was disappointing.
High points were the breakfast, the breakfast staff and the grounds.
Low points included:
* The building - the photo is of a grand manor house, the reality is that most of the rooms are in a modern, unattractive concrete bunker behind the manor house.
* Eating in - one night we decided to eat in. Service was slow. Very. Had to go to the bar multiple times and ask them to come and take our orders. Food was overpriced, slow to come, and was reheated. While we were quietly and patiently waiting, we had to listen to a manager, more than a little reminiscent of Basil Fawlty, fawning at great length over some customers who gave every appearance of wanting to be left alone. While other customers were wondering whether they would ever be served. we twice asked for water. We are still waiting. I ended up taking medication without it.
* The Room - first room was not what we had booked. The replacement room was what we had booked, but it was not what we expected - the promotional material seemed misleading to us.

May I thank you for taking the time and trouble to pass on your most constructive comments following your stay of 13th February.
I was most disappointed to read of the shortfalls in our service in the bar that you describe and would like to apologise for the disappointment caused over dinner. May I assure you that swift corrective action will be taken to avoid repetition.
Our bedrooms however are fully described on our website and all third party booking engines as to where they are located and what they contain. I am sorry that they were not to your liking.
With renewed apologies.
May I assure you that I have met with our restaurant and bar manager today and swift remedial coaching is taking place to avoid repetition of this unfortunate situation for our guests.
