Gracious old house, wonderful host!Posted Jul 17, 2015
Pros: Rooms were big, comfortable. Great breakfast and our hostess was tons of fun!
Cons: No complaints.
Location: Nice little town. Pop in to the George in where people have been drinking beer for 100s of years. Very good dinner. Then drop by the Fleur de Lys...
I can't say enough about how terrific this place is. We had two beautiful rooms, clean and decorated with personal touches. You really felt like a guest in someone's home, rather than simply a hotel visitor. Bathrooms were modern, clean and well appointed. Had a terrific night's sleep. This house is in a little town center with two terrific dining choices right across the street. Our hostess was able to tell us lots of local history and help us plan out the next day. Breakfast was fun and delicious! Easy access from here to Bath, our destination. Our hostess helped us determine best parking for access to the sites in Bath. Really just a great place. Wish we had stayed more than one night! Plenty of room for us and the kids...

Nice bed and breakfast in a beautiful village.Posted Nov 4, 2014
Pros: The quaintness and were is was.
Cons: Provide shower gel and shampoo.
Owner was very welcoming and accommodating as we were late arriving because of traffic on the M25. Plaine House was very quaint and clean. Breakfast was very good. Only compliant is the non existent shampoo and shower gel. We didn't pack any as these are normally provided. Village was very beautiful. In all a very nice stay.

A great find!Posted Oct 11, 2014 on Hotels
We stumbled upon this little inn while looking for a place to stay in Bath. While it was a short 15 minute drive from the Bath city center, it was worth the trip. We loved it. Our host was very polite and helpful. The accomodations were quite nice and the home-cooked breakfast really hit the spot. The village of Norton St. Philip is like a scene from an old movie. Here we found beautiful stone buildings and great walking trails. We enjoyed food and drinks at the pub across the street from the inn. All in all, we had a great experience and would love to return.

historic buildingPosted Sep 23, 2014
Pros: old charm
Cons: not a lot given the age of the plaine
Location: great pub across the road..the george.
we stayed in cheapest room..upstairs...comfortable....en suite very small..but very clean. the plaine is located on a very, very busy 4 way intersection..be careful crossing the road...noise level is ok/double glass.

A bit spendy for accommodations and location.Posted Aug 2, 2014
Pros: Neat old building in a beautiful village.
Cons: Room a bit small for a family and the carpets were pretty used up and soiled. They essentially put us in a room for 2 and dropped to single beds
Located in a very nice little village, however on the corner of a very busy street so lots of traffic noise. However staff was friendly and helpful and we loved the village and easy access to Bath, but far enough away to get out of the rush.

Stephany, our host, is an exquisite inn keeper. We were a bit early and went to wait in the delightful pub from the 1300's when Stephany came to find us with great enthusiasm. Our room was clean and comfortable. The area is beautiful. Breakfast was delicious with an eclectic multinational group of guests. About 15 minutes outside of the center of Bath in the gorgeous countryside.
