Last Minute

Posted Oct 31, 2016
Location: Don't know, just left via car.
Forget to get address for my local hosts so booked this about an hour before arrival in Bath. Pleasant, quiet and accommodating. Looks like it would be lovely with warmer weather and swimming pool. Very pleasant and helpful staff. Highly recommend!

Pros: Location
Decor is total outdated needs a total revamp, breakfast was ok.only seen one of the staff and he needs to learn to smile and show as if he wants to be there even if he doesn't.

Beautiful Neighborhood, Cool Old Hotel

Posted Oct 3, 2016
Pros: The little bar is adorable, the staff were helpful and friendly. I enjoyed their decor immensely.
Cons: There was a little musty smell in the hallways, I wish breakfast was served earlier and it would be nice if they had a night porter.
I had a Superior Double Room - it was fantastic, if a little more expensive than I would have liked. I was a little concerned based on the reviews here, but the room was clean, it was a good location, the bed was comfortable, the tea service in the room was nice, the breakfast was really good - so much better than continental breakfasts you get in the US. It is a 4-star hotel, equivalent to a 3 star in the US - like all hotels in Europe. If you prefer your hotels completely uniform, decorated in beige and navy blue, and nothing out of place, I'd think you would want the Hilton in town. But if you are ok that it's a little odd and older - this is a great spot.

Helpful Staff, Great for price/location & parking

Posted Sep 29, 2016
Pros: Parking and Location. Although it's about 1.5 miles, it's not too far to walk into town, and have the convenience of leaving your car behind.
I only stayed for one night, and unfortunately due to traffic in my travels across the other end of the country, I ended up arriving over an hour after check-in closes. Seeing here that check-in closes after 10.30pm, I telephoned in advance to let them know I was running late, and they arranged to put key in a key safe outside for me. The room was pleasant, clean, and quiet, perfect after several hours driving. The en-suite bathroom might have been small, but is what I would expect in converted historical buildings, and perfectly adequate (except there was nowhere to hang towels, no biggy). At breakfast I was well attended to, and for the purpose of my visit - an interview at the university, I found there was something I needed to print something out - the staff were very helpful in doing this for me. Full marks for service.

Big old 'fawlty towers' type hotel-strange decor

Posted Aug 29, 2016
Location: walking distance to centre of Bath
The staff were friendly enough but everything about the hotel from very strange attempt at decor make over to broken toilet door handles speaks of an establishment not really up to scratch.
