Room for improvement

I had to stay in Bay City for business and opted for the Motel 6 based on value and the images online, along with the higher reviews. My stay was not bad, per se, but there were a couple of things that disappointed me. There was only bar soap in the room- no shampoo or body wash of any kind. If I had not brought a small bottle of shampoo, I would had to have washed my hair with a small bar of soap. Much of the furniture looked as if it had been rescued from a thrift store or the side of the road. The cups in the bathroom were styrofoam and stacked openly, meaning I could not be sure of their cleanliness. At the very least, it's reassuring to find cups enclosed and sealed in plastic. The hotel and room were clean as far as I could tell, but both had a very run-down feel as if corners had been cut and very little investment has been made into some of the very basic amenities I would expect from a hotel in this country. I guess you get what you pay for, and sometimes you get less.
