Great location not impressed with rooms.

Pros: Convenience to beach
Cons: Beds were not comfortable and noise from pipes and fire alarms were very annoying during sleep. Showers and decor are all budget.
Great location and complimentary beach badges but that's about the best I can say. We were pretty disappointed with the rooms and hotel especially given the price for a weekend in the summer. The staff was friendly and accommodating but couldn't make up for the accommodations.

Greg thank you for staying with us. The furniture is all solid wood made in the USA, the beds are 1 years old all sealy sertas, people actually compliment us on the bed so I am puzzled. I don't understand about the noise from the fire alarms? We have not had an alarm sound all summer long. Again thank you for staying with us.

Old historic hotel that is in desperate need of renovations. Nice staff, but not worth the money.

Perfect for us and so close to the beach

Pros: Relaxed feel, great staff, so close to beach and supply of beach chairs, umbrellas and towels. Great lunch if you don't want to go far from beach!
Cons: Continental breakfast could be greatly improved by the simple addition of some plain,unsweetened yogurt and hard boiled eggs!
Location: Beach, great restaurants
This was our first time at The Grenville but I doubt it will be our last. We arrived way too early to check in because we wanted the full beach day and they were lovely about giving us beach passes, use of chairs and towels, and the guest's discount on a wonderful lunch! The location is great - easy walking to restaurants in Bay Head. There is no parking lot which in a hotel this size is a bit of a problem since all the parking is on the street but we were fine. Love the Bay Head beaches- less busy than Pt Pleasant. Staff is super helpful and friendly. They might consider amending their continental breakfast a little- some plain (not sweet) yogurt and some hardboiled eggs would make a big difference! But that is minor in an all around great time!

Nice destination and location. The hotel was below average in reference to comfort and overall condition, The room was very very small, there was no central air conditioning, the window was tiny, and the hotel did not look very clean. I guess it's not too bad in comparison with other motels on the beach, but I would rather stay somewhere else for the price. Hotel staff was ok, we did not try their restaurant because there are a lot of other options in the area. They give you beach batches for the day, but if you want to go to the beach after you check out--you cannot do that, you have to give them back when you check out. Parking was on the street, they had a little parking lot in the back, but guests are not allowed to park there.

We appreciate your feedback and do wish you had an more pleasant stay with us. The building is 127 years old, so the rooms are a little smaller than a more modern hotel. Our staff is also very through ensuring each rooms is properly cleaned but we will review your feedback with our team. As for beach badges, we do provide them for the length of your stay however it is difficult for us to extend use of them past check-out as new guests are checking in and will require the badges. We do apologize for any inconvenience however as we do not have a parking lot we ask our guest to park on the street in front of the building. Again we would like to thank you for your feedback.

besides 25 mi it's for someone to check me in. smell of paint and the circular saw that began at 8:15 am. minus the lack of garbage cans soap and shampoo good.

I arrived late and went for a surf early the next morning and the host said I could take my time leaving if I wanted to surf some more which was super nice.

In Need of TLC

Staff was extremely pleasant and helpful. Honest attempts at updating are being made, however, they have a long way to go. Our room was small, tired and in much need of attention. It looked as though it was furnished completely via yard sale and the "closet" was simply a recess in the wall with a homemade curtain. The bathroom amenities were half used and there was hair on the sink (which is located next to the bed). We did get to see a more recently renovated room (the only one with a view) and it was quite nice. One plus... very dog friendly!

Thank you for staying with us. I apologize for the hair that is unacceptable. We are finishing up a complete renovation of the exterior and interior of the hotel. The rooms are small, we are a hotel near the ocean and each room varies in size. Thank you again for your feedback.

Not as advertised

Room was cute, comfortable. Lots of character. But they advertised a complimentary continental breakfast and didn't have one.

Close to the beach - limited wifi

The place is a bit run down and breakfast is pretty sad. However, the location is great, the room was reasonably comfortable. Wifi was fairly spotty however
