Nice hotel

Love the hotel staff... check in was easy, the conceige was really helpful. Check out should be at 11am or 12pm.. 10am is too too early

Pros: A nice hotel by the sea.
Cons: staff relationships with the client. Some are very good, others not so helpful...
Location: Waitangi Hotel, Bay of Islands, New Zealand was a perfect location and a well presented hotel,
I found that the Expedia booking process complicated and time consuming. And final booking requirements are obsure. E.G a booking was changed - 2 double-bedroom unit to a family room for up to 4 people. The booking was updated to a family room at less cost, but (un-noticed) still booked for two adults. On arrival, only 2 adults were booked, not the expected four as originally discussed on the phone. In the information provided online, the sum of $20 was quoted for any further additional people. The hotel charged $40 for the third person needing accommodation. I find this unsettling and diminished an otherwise pleasant stay. I felt the booking staff (foreign speakers, US based) need to clarify with the customer what is required and what is finally booked at the very least.

Value got money

Hotel was very out dated. It need an upgrade. The bathroom need a redo. The staff was beyond excellent. Especially Georgia. She help us nothing was an issue with her. It's a shame that pool and spa was not 24hrs but we understand why.

Comfortable bed and in a wonderful position.

Pros: Staff are Friendly and Hotel is kept clean. Rooms are a bit dated but would stay there again.
Cons: Restaurant food was a bit expensive to the quality of the meal.
Location: Just over the bridge to Paihia.
Best Hotel bed I have slept in for some time. This Hotel is in a great spot, close to the water and beautiful views if your room faces the water.

Beautiful view of Bay of Islands

Pros: View of Bay of Islands.
Cons: Service in the dining room could definitely be improved.
Location: Waitangi Treaty Grounds and Museum, kayaking, hiking, waterfall, scuba diving
We had a wonderful view of the Bay of Islands from our patio area which we enjoyed apart from occasional cigarette smoke drifting over from the next patio. It was not easy to find a parking space close to the rooms which was an inconvenience for loading and unloading. Our experience of dining in the hotel was not good. We thought the buffet was overpriced so opted for a la carte but had to wait nearly 40 minutes after our order was taken. Full marks to the server who was sent out to distract and entertain us whilst we waited for our meal. It was possible to walk to the Waitangi Treaty Grounds and kayaking was also within walking distance. The hotel shuttle to Paihia was also very convenient for any activities booked there.

great place to stay if playing golf at Waitangi

Pros: the supply what they say and do it well
Cons: more time to stay
Location: golf, bush walks, the treaty house and the shops in town.
staff great the food was good and was a nice place to sit and enjoy a drink with other guest's.

Enjoyable Stay

Very close to everything you need. Walking distance to the Treaty Grounds and ferry.

Good hotel

Good hotel to spend a night or few; close to the beach and next door to the Waitangi Treay Grounds ( a must), with great views and relaxing pool complex

Very good view from room but tired hotel

Rooms very well located with views over sea. Shower was very poor (very low flow), plug for bath leaked badly so bath took an age to fill. Internet arrangements (1/2 hour per day, lobby area only) very dated- any local cafe will do better than that,
