The Best Western in Mayport was very conveniently located as I visited family who were receiving care at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville. The breakfast and staff member, Rosie, were excellent. There were hot eggs, protein, make-your-own waffles and oatmeal every day along with cereals, yogurt, breads, fresh fruit, juice and coffee. I used the fitness room once and that was great (although I couldn't find the remote for the TV). Overall the room was clean and fresh linens were provided. The microwave, coffee maker and refrigerator with a small freezer came in very handy. The hotel could use on-going upgrades and I'd suggest removing carpeting and putting in hard flooring to make things easier to clean. The cost was a bit higher than I would have liked (about $650 for a four night stay for one person), but within the range of other options.

This hotel was not in a nice part of town. Barbed wire on the fence around the property. No place to walk the dog. No where to eat nearby. The staff was great especially the woman in the breakfast room. Dogs are allowed for an extra fee.

We selected the BW on the beach, for 2 nights at $300. When i got my email with the address it was not the beach. The floors were gross and nasty and stunk. The bath tub had pubic hairs in it. The beds were hard and the head of the be was tilted downward so i had to sleep on the ither end. And to top that off we had a wonderful view of a a homeless person that was living between the motel and the dollar tree, which greeted our morning with popping a squat right out in the open . Needles to say we did not stay the second night.

The place horrible never had a manager on duty to help and the staff just knew how to say I’m sorry we can’t help call Monday to speak to a manager. I reported animals in the room and bathroom. Do not stay on the place.

Last Stay At This Best Western
My wife and I travel very infrequently, her sister hosted our Thanksgiving Fest there in Atlantic Beach. I've never booked anything using Hotels.com, I have $150.00 worth of your gift cards, so when I made our reservation on line I thought I was reserving the room with my debit card then use the gift cards upon arrival for the partial payment. As we were checking in Robby was on the desk, and stated that our room had already been pre-paid by Hotels.com and I would be unable to use the Hotels.com gift cards at this time. So that was bad enough, but around 9:00 am, 11/24/23, Room 208-B, I was showering, slipped and fell in the tub, on the way down I grabbed the shower curtain, bending the shower rod, the non-skid surface of the bath tub has worn off over time and was smooth to the touch, my back was sore for about a week and it appears that I'm ok, so I'm not considering filing a complaint. My wife was just outside the door when I fell, took photos of the bent rod, absence of grab bar, and the worn down surface bottom of the tub. As we were checking out we advised the maid service about what just happened and appraised BW's desk clerk the same information. The carpet in our room had holes in it. The pool you had to go out the hotel and walk around the property to get access to the pool. The staff wasnt very friendly and acted like you were inconvenient for asking how to access the pool. The pool was relaxing and well upkept. The breakfast was a muffin as the oranges in florida was well past ripe. Which was shocking because florida oranges. Would not recommend especially when there are soooo many other hotels in the area.

Everyone was very friendly. The night before I was to check out, I left my phone in an Uber. The Uber driver returned my phone that same evening around 10:30 pm. The next morning from the time I woke and for the next 4 hours I lost my ability to work or even leave because everything is in my phone. After 4 hours of stress I decided to ask the front desk if they had my phone. It was then the woman working said "oh yes, here is a note from the Uber driver. Then she proceeded to tell my I had 20 minutes to check out. Zero compassion of the problem. Then I found out that not only did the woman at the desk neglect to simply call my room or knock on the door to relay the message, the person that was at the desk the night prior refused to accept the phone from the Uber driver, he never bothered to attempt to inform me that my phone was there. We all know our phones are heavily attached to our lives. I found both employees to have complete disregard for me or the circumstance that caused my a great deal of stress. The woman at the front was equally insensitive to the situation because she had the ability to inform me first thing in the morning. I will never stay at this property again.

The smell of cigarettes in the room was overwhelming. No I didn’t ask for non smoking room because the entire hotel is “non smoking “ (signs posted and clearly stated online) will never stay at a best western again. I can still smell it on my suitcase and clothes I didn’t wear.

The floor was so dirty your feet turned black. The kids spilled water and when I dried it up the entire towel was brown and the employees claimed the carpets were cleaned. Obviously not. Workers in breakfast area very rude! Lots of homeless wondering through the parking lot. Phone absolutely disgusting! Curtains broken, lights broken.
