"Great spot for people with pets!"
Beautiful area with grassy backyard, gorgeous little trails to dog beach, and outdoor dog bath area. It makes it easy to vacation with your dog. Also, OB has plenty of nice cafes and local restaurants and there is a cool street fair on Wednesdays that offers great food and local art.

The room was clean, but I think anothe once over could have helped. Great staff and nice hotel overall. It would be nice if it was in a location close to other food places though.

"Excellent Location, Helpful Staff"
The hotel was clean and quiet. The weekend buffet was tasty. I had thought we'd have a better chance at a room with a view but alas, we had no veranda or otherwise. Luckily, we were out enjoying the sites most of the day. We put the hot tub and pool to good use.

"Nice hotel close to the beach"
I got to the hotel after a 20-30 shared-ride shuttle from the airport. The driver mentioned there are various restaurants nearby, and they're within walking distance of the hotel, both national chains and more local sounding. The hotel is across the street from the beach including rooms on the one side with balconies overlooking the beach. I arrived late morning and the check in time seems to be strict at 3:00 PM. I carried my bag with me across the street and walked on the beach for a short time. Then walked to lunch passing a large national drugstore offering food, sunblock lotions, a pharmacy and OTC meds, alcohol, seasonal items, etc. Walked back and changed clothes in the public restroom to spend more time on the beach (still had over an hour before check in, would have been nice to be able to check in, change clothes, and leave my bag at the room rather than carry it with me along the beach). Several more restaurants and tourist shops along the beach. I checked in at 3:00 and the process was straightforward. The room was clean and comfortable though a bit dated. A kitchenette was included. Went out to the beach again and stayed out until sunset, having dinner at one of the local restaurants.

"Nice hotel that is close to Sea World and zoo."
Good hotel for just a place to crash for the night. Close to all the major San Diego attractions and right next to Mission Bay which has a great park and beach. Hotel room was clean, could use some maintenance though. But no freeway or road noise. Very quite at night.

"UNDER RENOVATION - Did not know"
Hotel is currently under renovations. The entire main entrance is closed and there is a temporary one. Also, there is a brand new building being built at the end of the row of various buildings that have additional hotel rooms. We were placed NEXT to the construction, our room smelled like sewage when we walked in and the towels had stains on them. Additionally, the bath tub was old and scratched/old looking. We were so tired the night we arrived and we were told hotel completely booked so we had to stay in our room. We asked to switch in the AM. Staff was fine, but not overly accommodating. They said they would work on switching. Once we moved to the main building and got a new room, things improved, but it still was NOT a 4 star hotel in my opinion. More like a 3 Star. The room we were moved to was clearly a smoking room so it smelled. This was unfortunate as I am not a smoker and because I was traveling with my 12 year old daughter. We did not want to complain again though so we stuck it out. Room was cleaner than separate building rooms. If you stay at this hotel, make sure to ask BEFORE booking the following: 1. Is room smoking room? 2. is room a PET FRIENDLY room? 3. Is room in MAIN building or in a separate building? Pool was nice although small. Beach was not really a beach because it is on the inlet so there was a patch of sand with a few cabanas but then a bunch of rocks (so you could not swim) and boat docks so if you could swim, you wouldn't.

Pocket Guide: Beach Cities, San Diego Pet-friendly Hotels

During warm weather, crowds pack the waters off Mission Beach and Pacific Beach, two of the most popular stretches of San Diego sand. These laidback locales are known to host the occasional farmer’s market or arts festival. Mission Boulevard connects both beaches and leads north to La Jolla.
