Memorial Day Weekend Getaway

Posted May 29, 2019 on HomeAway
My husband and I chose this cottage for some quiet time near the water over Memorial Day Weekend. This cottage proved to be a great choice. The kitchen and living room offered us plenty of space to lounge around and everything was clean and inviting. The snack items and bottle of wine provided were such a delightful surprise. The kitchen has plenty of cooking utensils and even some spices and condiments that make eating in an easy option. We met our hostess, Marga late afternoon after we arrived as we were walking out to enjoy the dock. Marga was very gracious and hospitable and encouraged us to enjoy our stay. We had plenty of privacy and enjoyed going out in the evenings and sitting on the dock and the beautiful view. Even though there were record breaking temperatures, we were able spend some time out and about early in the day and come back in the afternoon and relax. We spent part of a day at Hunting Island Park, climbed the lighthouse and enjoyed the beach. We also spent some time downtown Beaufort and the waterfront park. We even got to see the Memorial Day Parade which was fun. We had Sunday brunch at Magnolias Bakery and Café, and then had lunch at Common Ground Café on Monday. The Chocolate Tree Shop is another great place for chocolate lovers. There is a large Publix grocery store within 5 miles of the cottage which is on the way. We would definitely recommend The Charming Cottage for those who want an alternative to a hotel, in a quiet setting by the water.

Very friendly and accommodating hosts. The cottage is cute and has all need. Lovely location on ladys island. We enjoyed a couple evening walks out to the dock for dolphin watching.

wonderful short stay. So close to everything you might need and places to see.

We had a short little vacation. Marga was such a sweet thoughtful host. She left wonderful snacks but we were so busy taking in the sights we didn't really have time to enjoy all of them. She even had fresh eggs from her chickens! The location is ideal. It is only about 10 minutes from Beaufort and around 15 minutes to Hunting island beach, which happened to be the demise of our trip. My husband got a terrible sun burn so we shortened our trip. If you want to be close to everything, this is a wonderful choice.

Peaceful Pleasure in a beautiful location

Posted Jun 1, 2018 on HomeAway
My husband and I stayed here for 2 weeks to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary and 65th birthdays. We arrived to find flowers, a chilled bottle of Prosecco, a dozen fresh eggs from the owner's chickens and a basket of snacks! The cottage is very well located for a stay in the Beaufort area, close to town but tucked away in a quiet neighborhood. Although it's on the owner's property, it's far enough for lots of privacy, and the owner gave us all the space we wanted but was available to help with anything. The cottage was just the right size for a couple, with a complete kitchen, dining area and comfortable living area with flat screen tv. The bathroom was well stocked with loads of towels and the bedroom had a very comfortable bed and lovely Italian linens, along with another flatscreen tv. There is an attached laundry room. The best aspect of this rental, however, is access to the deep water dock that extends into the large creek. There are comfortable lounge chairs where you can sit and watch dolphins swimming by and ospreys building their nest. The view is unbeatable. My husband fished off the dock nearly every day. Everything was extremely clean and we had everything we needed. The owner was pleasant and easy to work with, responding very quickly both before and during our stay. It was a pleasure staying here and we quickly felt like we were in our own home. There is lots to do in the area and it's a quick trip to Charleston and Savannah. We hope to return.

It has a lot of potential but little has been realized.

Owner attempted nice touches with wine, fresh flowers and snacks. However the furniture was old, dated and not in good condition. There were spider webs in corners filled with dead bugs. Most importantly to us the access to the water was not how it was portrayed on the VRBO site.
