9/6/2017 We needed to stay here due to the fact that we could not return to Houston, Tx due to hurricane Harvey. We stayed the first two nights without an issue but were told we had to check out on the third night because the hotel was booked.  We could not leave the property due to extreme flooding of the feeder roads and parking lot.  The manager told us we needed to check out by noon and that she would try to check us back in at 3 if there were cancellations. At 3 she informed us there were no cancellations and we had to leave.  She said she would call search and rescue to take us to a shelter.  A man standing next to us was appalled and gave up his room for us.  He stayed with a fellow traveler in another room. We immediately asked another guest who was also asked to leave to join us in our room. The power went out that night in our room.  We asked if we could be moved to another room that had electricity and were told no. I found out later that most of the hotel rooms were booked by Exxon Mobile and the rooms were to remain for them even if they didn't show up.  That was the case, they had several rooms that they would not give up because they were reserved by Exxon.  These rooms had electricity, A/C, internet and cable and were all working and never used.  I spoke to the manager to see if we could have one of the rooms and they could make up our room incase Exxon employees did show and was told no, that was Marriott's policy not to give up rooms.  I called customer se

Dear Jacqui, Thank you for your review. Hurricane Harvey was a unique event for our hotel and city, and we tried our best to ensure our guests were safely taken care of as best as possible. As you mentioned, we were under contractual obligation prior to the hurricane to hold rooms for certain companies, and we cannot rent a room that we're holding under these agreements to others. I apologize for your experience, but I hope you remained safe during the storm. Thank you. Roy, GM

the location is right off the Interstate and is far enough away for the traffic to not be disturbing.

The staff was excellent. Only thing is when you first came into the lobby it had a musky smell.

Redemption after lost reservation

Posted Jul 1, 2017 on Hotels
I had booked for an Executive Suite. When I arrived at the hotel they stated that my reservation must have been lost. We had to book into a regular room. The first room we entered was too small for a family of four with a two-year-old. The second room they put us in did have two beds and a bathtub which made it easier for us to be able to get settled. Due to this not being a suite we were unable to stay longer at the hotel. It was difficult to be able to keep the child asleep while in the bathroom Etc. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Especially Wesley at the front desk took extra effort to make sure that we were in a room that would be suitable for us. I would stay at this hotel again if it wasn't a family of four. I did attempt to contact Hotels.com. Their customer service was unable to tell if their available rooms were suites with a door which closed. I was asked to contact the hotels directly for thus information.

Wasn't what I would expect from Marriot

Posted May 9, 2017 on Orbitz
It wasn't absolutely awful, but I do have a few big complaints. 1) the room smelled like urine!! My in laws were in the room next door and their room didn't smell the same. It wasn't animal urine either, I work in healthcare and have pets as well so I know the difference. 2) there were spots of mold in the bathroom on the wall. 3) have hotels done away with free continental breakfasts? We stayed on a sunday night which was $129 for the weekend rate. Then, we paid $20 for a coffee, oatmeal and French toast in the morning. And they didn't have high chairs or booster seats so, not very kid friendly. 4) hotel staff was cordial but not as friendly as most hotel staff I have encountered in the past. On a positive note, the location is super convenient, the bed was really comfortable and it looks like they are doing some updating so i liked the modern look and vibe. Maybe we just got a bad room. It was 322.
