Cold Stay!

Pros: Luckily it had an en-suite
Cons: As above The lack of heating and little help with hot drinks
Location: Letchworth is a lovely place
The reception smelt strongly of stale food. The Meet /greet part of reception work was missing. No breakfast Not even an individual packet of cornflakes in the room The heating is turned OFF all night until 5am. The room was very cold. It's winter for goodness sake. No extra blanket provided. The hot water tap had to be left running for 5 whole minutes before any hot water was produced. Only one sachet of coffee provided. (on a very cold night).

The staff were very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately the room was very shabby, tv did not work properly because of a dodgy arial connector. Would not use again.

Hotel handy and good VFM but needs some repairs to floor,water staining on ceiling, and attendance when we went to check out. Lovely clean sheets.

Serves a purpose!

I booked for 5 adults and was given a single room and a double room of which a very irrate manager told me I should have realised it would have been a single bed, but Hotels.com paperwork said 2 adults to a single room, so we did expect it to be a double bed not a single. The room was okay, beds were comfy enough except there was an extractor fan which went on all night and unfortunately you cannot escape the smell of curry but then that is to be expected when the resturarant is downstairs. The area was very pleasant and they did allow us to check in early as we requested which was kind, but I wouldnt stay again unless absolutely necessary.

Garden Lodge Hotel Letchworth

This was not really a Hotel, just rooms above an Indian Restaurant. The entrance was locked during non restaurant opening hours and then difficult to gain access to check in 3pm. Overal the room was not to any acceptable standard and I did not want to stay their. The room did not look as if had been cleaned. The carpets were badly stained and worn. The bed cloth clothes were well worn. The furniure in my room (No 1) was in a poor state. No handles on the draws, the wardrode could fall on you as the back had been smashed off, The bathroom was to the same with parts of the toilet seat broken of missing. I could only find one power point and that was at low level. when I wanted to use the electric kettle I had to put it on the floor. I was glad to leave the following morning. It was not a pleasant experience. I do feel that Hotel.Com should examine this hotel as it is putting a bad light on them.

Basic but clean

We only needed a room for one night and this served the purpose. If we needed to stay again we would happily go back, but it is not for long stays. Can't remember the last hotel I stayed in that didn't have a hair dryer till this for example, but if you want a clean place for a night and expecially if you like Indian food, with a restaurant on the ground floor of the hotel, this will meet your needs.
