Room was cramped and bed very small and not very comfortable. Good breakfast, friendly and efficient service.

A bit disappointed, not terrible but not greatPosted Sep 6, 2015
Horwood House was a mixed bag for us. We stayed a friday and saturday night as an alternative to a travel lodge when attending the MotoGP at Silverstone. Good points - Lovely location - restaurant staff were great - only slightly more expensive than a budget chain hotel Bad points - there was wedding on both nights, and we were kept up both nights by drunk guests in the corridor long into the morning (one night someone tried to get into our room at 3am because he had the wrong room number) - only the reception is in the old country house, the rest of the hotel is in dull, characterless and much cheaper looking modern extensions - receptionist at check-in was utterly miserable, not the best start! - restaurant is expensive and menu is an acquired taste, and with it being so remote, there are few alternatives Overall, reasonable for the price we paid, but definitely not a premium experience

DisappointmentPosted Jul 27, 2015
Dear Sirs I am writing to let you know of our disappointment following our stay this weekend. Firstly I booked 2 superior doubles through Expedia and an additional night for myself. The rooms were not up to our expectations lacking the basics of tea coffee and water. My main concerns started with dinner on Saturday night. My wife ordered Thai curry of which arrived with the rice undercooked and the chicken cold in the middle. We then waited 20 minutes before we had any attention or service. I was attending the hotel with clients and everyone expressed disappointment and the chaotic lack of service. On Sunday at breakfast apart from waiting 15 mins for tea or coffee. We then attempted the buffet breakfast. The only plates, crockery available were side plates no dinner plates were to be seen. I must add the crockery and cutlery were not very clean. Then to get charged £29.90 for 2 breakfasts is both ridiculous and massively over priced if you take in to account what's on offer and the inept service. I will be forwarding this email to Expedia and raising concerns over quality of service provided and whether the hotel is being advertised under false pretences as a 3 star hotel. I did email the hotel and no response. I then forwarded my email to Central reservations at head office. They said they have passed my issues to the area manager. I should imagine it will take a while to get to my email as I would envisage their mail box being full this morning.

A maze of corridors.Posted Jun 15, 2015
Pros: The breakfast was the only meal I had there, which was fine but it reminded me of feeding time at Butlin's Holiday Camp in the 60's!
Cons: Signs, warning people to be considerate when returning too their rooms.
I stayed over the weekend for 2 nights when there are obviously more people staying but I did not expect drunk rowdy gangs shouting and banging on doors at 3:30am in the morning, smoking in the corridors and rooms. The hotel has grown over the years to a ridiculous size that you are given a map at the reception to get to your room that took around 15-20 minutes to find. Not recommended over a weekend.

Nice for wedding pics, not brilliant as a guestPosted Jun 8, 2015 on Hotels
Stayed for a wedding. Rooms are in a maze of corridors - prepare to get lost!. Double room was tiny, but OK just to sleep. No hot water, was told the boiler would be checked! Maybe they should do that before guests complain ! Food served at the wedding was really lovely, great quality and presentation. Bar staff were undergoing training, which in my opinion should be complete before serving paying guests as many errors had to be corrected. A beautiful venue for wedding photos, wedding planning all seemed to run smoothly. Areas to improve would be reception and staff training procedures - and maybe improve signage to find your room

nice location, shame about the rooms.Posted May 9, 2015 on Hotels
Set in beautiful countryside location. Main house and cottages are impressive but the other accommodation was small and basic. Gym, Swimming pool and sauna were adequate, just no spa as advertised. Didn't eat in the restraint as too expensive, went to the local pub instead!
