This was my 5th stay in Avira. When I checked in, I made a request for a sunny room facing the street. I was given a great room, xx31, between Oct 22-28. When I returned to Avira--6th stay--after a trip to Tianjin a week later, I was given a dark and gloomy room, xx06, facing the courtyard on the same floor despite my similar request. Two hours after, I approached the manager who was kind enough to make my wish come true. And switched me to sunny, streetview room xx33, Really didn't know why a faithful guest had been given such treatment.

Amazing space for the price, close to mass transit
We had a great stay at this hotel. Space was very large and comfortable for the price. Having two bathrooms and two levels was so nice since my daughter and I don't keep the same hours. Beds were hard but, from what I understand, typical for China. Free water bottles every day, small fridge was awesome! Shower could have been cleaner (small amount of mold) and some stains on rug, furniture. Surprised at how little English spoken by front desk folks. But overall a great stay, would stay there again in a second if I got to visit my daughter (a student at Peking Univ) again!

Convenient Location and Good Price
Pros: The loft rooms are roomy and comfy. There is full bath and TV on each floor of the loft, which is very nice. The King size bed ones have better views, our friends have the king size loft, we have the twin size bed loft. Service is good, they try their best to please you, this includes the daily housekeeping service. The sofa was okay to sleep on, but if you are taller it would be best to get the extra rolling bed for $200 RMB per night. There is a laundry room with two washers and dryers, you can use it for free if your stay is over 7 days. Same thing with the community kitchen. They are both on the 6th floor. The pool is on the 6th floor also but it is not heated, so for an afternoon summer swim is okay. Location wise the hotel is 10 minutes walk from the subway Line #10 and a big shopping mall. The shopping mall has many eateries and shops. There is also an entry to the subway station within the mall in basement level 1. Cons: The carpets in the room are a bit dated and dirty, perhaps an update is in order? They do provide slippers and bath robes however. The first room we got when we arrived smelled like cigarettes, but they were able to change the room to one that doesn't smell at a lower level for us. The Ariva Cafe is on the 3rd floor. There is a 15% service charge for all items. The dishes are on the expensive side so usually there aren't too many patrons. Hint: Get the King size bed loft they are all on 16th floor and probably more cleaner.

Loft rooms are unique
The loft rooms are unique and give you great views and lots of natural light. This is an older four-star hotel that could use some renovation and updating. Breakfast was pretty weak. Immediate neighborhood is a bit boring, but not far from a decent mall and a subway stop away from the new, flashy part of Haidian

Great value in aging luxury hotel
I really like the loft rooms at this hotel. I get two stories of windows so have lots of natural light when working in my room. The local neighborhood is not very interesting, but the subway is close and a decent mall is a short walk away. This is a luxury hotel that is aging some, so the condition is a bit worn. But that makes it less expensive. I've stayed here before, and will stay here again because it is an excellent value in Haidian.

This are things that are EXCELLENT with the hotel: 1. Room layout and size (executive floor where we stayed) 2. Room cleaning service 3. Restaurant food This are things that are not so good and can be improved: 1. Room has a mouldy smell (our room) that never went away. 2. Concierge was not interested to help with the luggage’s. 3. Reception does not go above and beyond to assist with queries. 4. Business centre is always closed 5. Executive lounge is only open btw 6am to 10am, which does not make sense. Other times is closed

Nice for Family but a little out of the way
We took our 4 kids to Beijing for 10 days & stayed at the Ariva. We booked 2 loft rooms for the 6 of us. We chose this hotel because of the loft rooms, which was great since it had a nice living room area where we could all be together, but plenty of space for sleeping at night & a pool. Two of our children did have to sleep on the couch since they gave us rooms with a single king bed, but they said the couches were comfortable & they didn't mind. They were actually probably much softer than the beds. The beds were so hard, literally like sleeping on box springs, but amazingly, I never felt sore even though I like softer beds & I slept well. The linens & towels were clean, but the carpet was not! I think it is mostly because they are lighter colored carpets, but they really could use a cleaning. I am a bit OCD, so I wore flip flops in the room & had the kids wear the slippers that were provided, but since everything else was pretty clean, it was okay. It was really great to have 2 bathrooms in each room. Made it much easier while getting ready or when we all needed a bathroom break! We loved the size & arrangement of the room, but wish it was in a more central location. Luckily it is very close to the Suzhoujie subway station on the line 10, so we could get around easily, but it required a lot of travel time to get to most places. If we were to go again, we would likely stay in the Wangfujing area, which is more central. If you do stay here, ask for a view room.

Great hotel in NW suburbs
We loved our loft apartment with great view and excellent facilities. The location is great for access to the Summer Palace and lovely Yuanmingyuan area as well as universities. A pleasant, relatively quiet area with good access to the subway to get to most other parts of Beijing and surrounds quickly and cheaply. Helpful, English speaking staff.

Great deal!
I love the location and the room design of Ariva. I always stay at their loft rooms, which is very spacious with a living area on the first floor. I ran a few meetings in that area. I also like the location of it. It’s close to Peking University and Renmin University and within walking distance from the 10th subway line.

I have stayed in this hotel twice and the hotel looks worse this time. The chairs in the lobby are sunken and the room is not as clean. I spotted hairs on carpet and shower is not draining fast. The AC was also not working properly.

This is my usual stay in Beijing now. They have nice lofts that are nice, clean. Good training facilities, and very good pool (indoor). This time around, the odor in the room was a bit musky. Not sure why. Not horrible. Perhaps someone smoked in that non-smoking room and this was the treatment. That was a minor annoyance, but this is not usual for them. Room was clean and comfy, a bit warm to my taste but then shutting the air conditioning helped. The other area of improvement would be the Internet speed. Access is very slow, unfortunately, and it has not been a hallmark of this hotel for as far as I can remember. It took me 40 minutes to do what should have taken 10. Some other hotels in China are blessed with better Internet access. Again, not enough not to go back, but if hotel management reads the review I would hope this can be kept in mind for improvements. On the bright side, very good service. I forgot my iPad, and when I went back it was waiting for me. Thanks!

the room is clean and I like the loft style room, the first floor is great for party and second floor for sleep. The room is clean enough and the bed was not that comfortable but still acceptable. The location is great, 7 minutes walk to the subway line 10 SuZhouJie Station and 1 minute drive to the 4th ring road.

So so hotel.
Stayed in this hotel for a total of 9 days in the suites on the 16th floor. It was the closest hotel to relatives that live nearby which was the reason for staying here. The suites were a nice size and relatively quiet high above the traffic noise. The bed was typically hard for China but not so much that it was like a brick like some other hotels we stayed at. The sheets and towels were very nice and the room was nice quality and size overall. My biggest complaint was the carpeting was filthy with hair and stains everywhere. It didn't matter which room we stayed in that theme was the case and the hallways were similar. Housekeeping did have a vacuum and used it but it apparently isn't working well or needs the filter changed because the problem with hair on the carpets never changed. We never ate here so can't rate the food but breakfast was not included as is common in China and was an expensive extra cost add on. Air conditioning system didn't really seem up to the task either. It worked adequately at night but almost seemed as if it was turned off during the days as the room never cooled off. Check-in was particularly slow especially when we arrived late at night after a delayed flight. They state that they are a four star rated hotel but I certainly wouldn't place them in that category.

Conveniently located close to subway stations
The room splits to 2 levels. Each has a TV and a bathroom. The upper is the sleep section. The floor level is a living/reception/office section. Although not luxurious, it is relatively comfortable. The aircon is pretty noisy, otherwise OK. No breakfast and you need walk some distance (e.g. to Bagou shopping center) to find good eating places.

My family and I have been in this hotel for 3 times during last 4 years. When the hotel was new, everything was great and that hotel became our family's designated place every time we travel to Beijing. But the last stay which was only 2 days ago made me very disappointed. The room is dirty and worn. It smells bad. Hotel front was dirty.

Pleasant stay with spacious room at a reasonable price. Certainly not five star nor had the hotel advertised it to be, rooms are in genuine reasonable good condition. With Suzhoujie Tube Station only a stone throw away, the premise is a hidden gem in the vicinity that one may not be missed

Convenient location away from city, good size room
This hotel is far from city center (which is what we needed), but located very near 2 subway stations. It's about 7-8 mins of walking distance from a big shopping mall which has many dining choices. We are extremely happy with the location. We stayed in a loft unit, which provided a lot of room to move about for a group of 3. The beds are only at upper level, it'd be better if the beds were both queen size, or at least one of them was queen. Shower is at lower level, its rain shower head was very good. Overall, we liked the hotel very much, and will definitely return.

Worth the stay... with a few notes.
I stayed at Ariva for 10 days. Overall, it was a great facility. A few things to keep in mind for future travellers. 1. The executive lounge is closed. 2. The loft gets really really hot, so turn off the heat fan, and the valve for the radiator in the room. 3. Don't expect them to clean your room every day like in North America or Europe. They will make the bed, and provide clean towels, but wont pick up after you. 4. The quality of english is not what you would hope for. Be patient and have a translation app handy. This is not the place to stay if you are doing you business in the financial district. Traffic can be terrible. Overall I would give this place a 4.5/5 Food was great, safe, clean, quiet, great facilities.

Room service - food was cold , mattress was hard, staff English was very limited, business service- well they don't mail or organise couriers for overseas mail so limited to China only, location was not convenient to some of the tourist locations. That being said the restaurant downstairs is pricey for China but food is good, room views are great , room itself was ok, 1 English Chanel hobo playing same movies everyday, requested rollaway bed which was not provided and later told that if we wanted one they would charge 200yaun per night, asked for extra blanket and got given large towel initially, and it took another day to actually get blanket, Pool is ok, gym is basic with up to 50lb Dumbbells ,

Hotel close to subway
The entrance lobby and reception area of this hotel is really lovely and the waiting area with chairs and tables is comfortable. We stayed 6 nights in what is called a loft apartment. The lower level has a sitting area, TV, desk and bathroom with shower. There is a staircase up to the upper level where there is a sleeping area with a kingsize bed, another TV and another bathroom - this one with a tub instead of a shower. In my experience, the lower level is the size of what you would usually get for a double room, but in this case, you have twice the room. You can entertain guests on the lower level and still maintain you own private space on the upper level. We were unable to get a room that included breakfast, so had to pay extra for that, but it was well worth the 80RMB. The staff do not speak very much English, but that did not pose any problem - we got by with gestures and managed just fine. I had heard that the beds in China are not as soft as what we are used to and this is the case but we were not uncomfortable at all and slept well.

Excellent Hotel-some disappointing employees !!!
The only disappointment was the bell staff. I have stayed here before and really enjoyed myself. BUT, when I arrived in the taxi, it was very chilly and very windy. The taxi driver took my luggage out of his trunk and had difficulty maneuvering because I had one very large bag and one small bag.Finally made into the hotel and there were TWO (2) bellmen standing right next to the entrance. They had to see me struggling!! They did offer to help once I was "INSIDE" the lobby. VERY DISAPPOINTING !!! Gil Tori

Very nice looking loft
This is one of the nicest rooms I stayed in Beijing. I travel there frequently. I stayed in a two stories loft in a high floor, so great views of the city. The staff is helpful, short on english though. The main drawback for me is the location, far away from downton. Worth the price and location disadvantage for the room set up.

Hotel that is one a kind
I am still impressed, after staying in this hotel for the third time. The room is different than the rooms from other hotels. The loft, which is two stories, which makes it a lot more spacious compared to other hotels. There are also two restrooms and two televisions. Free internet (both wired or wireless) is provided in room, but I do feel it is slow, even though it stated it is high-speed. Within a five minute walk, you can find a Yoshinoya, a KFC, a Dairy Queen, the Suzhou Subway Station, and many more. You should check this hotel out. It is one of a kind and different than any other hotels you might have went.

The room was huge, but a little dirty (nothing too much though, just not sparkling). The view from the top floor was quite nice and it's very close to the university district and shopping. 5 minute walk from the metro. I would certainly recommend it and will most likely stay there again when I return.

Let me start with the good aspects. I got a good rate on hotels.com, the pool and sauna are nice and compared with most Chinese hotels I've stayed at, this one doesn't smell like cigarette smoke everywhere. There is CNN and NatGeo. The kitchens on the 6th floor were also nice for my two month stay and they let me store my stuff for one week between checking out and checking back in again. However, the hotel leaves much to be desired for a Western guest. First are the issues with the "non-smoking" floor. On at least three occasions someone was smoking on our non-smoking floor and you could smell it everywhere. Second, is the air-conditioning issue. You don't have control over the AC in your room. They turn it off in September and only turn it back on again in mid-May. So on the 13th floor you can imagine how hot it gets. Also, in the gym, which is on the 6th floor, it's very hot with no AC. The walls are thin and we could hear laughing from the room next door to ours. Only a few of the staff speak English. The wifi (when you can connect) is quite slow - though this is common throughout China.

Stayed at Ariva double storey suite from 30th June-13th july ( Room 1303) and on 22nd July ( Room 1246). Both suites are superb, room 1303 is near the lift but 1246 is like a 150m walk to the lift. Ask for non smoking floor if you do not smoke and also a room near to the lift. Love the glass panel attached bathroom on the second floor. I slept very well all the nights I stayed in the hotel. And they have a distinctive "Ariva scent" to all their toiletries, i never used those things provided by hotels, but those from Ariva - I really love them. They allow you to place your luggage after you checked out, i kept mine over there for 10 days when I head over to Inner Mongolia. Late checkout is at 2pm, you just got to request from them.
