Bad hotel experience
Worst hotel experience I've ever had. The rooms were dirty (dirty carpet floor) and the beds were rock hard. And only 2 of the staff speaks english. However the worst part was the trip we got arranged with the receptionist to the Great Wall. Massive scam. She took us up some illegal way and had us climbing the fence to get on to the wall (saved money on not buying us our tickets). Because she worked in the hotel we trusted her. However, after we came back to hotel we were pretty upset and got it all refunded. They also had a tour to the wall that takes you to lots of places and not just to the great wall (they will say only to great wall though to sell it to you). So, if you are planning on going to the great wall- get a different hotel where they actually listen to what you want and what you don't want.

Good for the price, great location. The location is not where it says on the maps.

The front desk and restaurant staff need to be more proficient in English to provide a better service to foreigners. I found the carpet and the bathroom in my room not being very clean. The variety of food in the breakfast buffet was good. The hotel should provide a better map and directions of how to get to the hotel from the nearest train/bus station.

I supposed to stay for 2 nights but my flight was delayed due to bad weather. So I stayed only 1 night with late check in but the staff found me the guide tour for short time notice.

Stay for the Location, Not the Service
We got the room that was without the window and was a big mistake. The room was stuffy, the carpet was dirty and the bed was extremely hard. We had no choice but to give feedback to the staff. The condition was made worse when the air-con system was not working at its best. The hotel finally relented and changed another room for us. The staff at the counter was not friendly and could not provide us with basic directions to the different tourist attractions despite the fact that I can converse in good mandarin - e.g. question on how to get to the Great Wall of China was met with "I am not sure because I have never been there before." When I asked the tourist attractions around the hotel, the front desk personnel retorted," You need to know where you want to go before I can give you the direction!"

One Happy Week in Beijing
Had a happy self-exploring week in Beijing, with fine weather and lots of sightseeing opportunities. Hiked the Great Wall twice, once at Jinshanling and then at Mutianyu again. Lovely fall colors on the hills and at the parks. Met some friendly locals who gave us free tour of the historic Drum and Bell Towers and other interesting areas. Sampled some of their local foods and the famous Peking Duck. Lots of fond memories and many beautiful photos. Our overall experience was impressive.

Old and uncomfortable hotel room
Not recommended as it was very uncomfortable. The washroom's shower had no segregation so once you took a shower, your entire bathroom was completely wet on the floors. The beds were extremely uncomfortable, one of the beds was literally just a boxspring. The room looked very very old - needs an upgrade for sure. Would not stay here again.

Lobby looks nice but the room is bad. Carpet was teared apart across the room, smells bad, air conditioning water dripped over night for 3 days that we stayed there. The rooms is not clean and disgusting. Not worth $70/night

Old Very Unclean Less than One Star Hotel
Not a foreign tourist friendly hotel. Only one person on the entire staff spoke English. Extremely dirty floor, bathroom had strong urine smell. Shower/water faucet was leaking so the floor would flood every time. Carpet was old, broken up and full of hair the bed only had a spring box, no real mattress. The lobby was remodeled but the rooms and hallway deserve a less than one star rating. We staid in Shanghai on a (real) four star hotel for the same price after this one. Please do not stay in this Hotel

Great location
We arrived at around 10pm and although we had reserved a double room we were given a twin room. We had to wait until the second night to change our room. Hotel staff really helpful but only some speak english. Bed was comfortable and clean but carpet was filthy. Shower in bath was difficult to adjust and the bath tap would still run! Best thing is the location here, you can walk to Tianamon Square, Forbidden City, Wangfujing shops and also not too far from other places by taxi.

Not great
First, the check-in staff didn't seem to know how to handle an Expedia reservation. It took almost an hour to get my room. I had a print out of my reservation, I pulled up the email confirmation, and the app. Nothing helped. The English language skills of the staff working at that time were not so good. Second, the room itself was not really what Americans would expect. There was a smell coming from one or both of the drains in the bathroom. There was a small exposed hole in the wall behind the bed with some wires sticking out. The bed was surprisingly comfortable. Other than that, I was generally satisfied. The location was pretty good for the price. If you're on a budget and want to be near some of the prime sightseeing spots this is a good choice. I very much enjoyed late night walks to Tienanmen Square. Other than that, you're within about a five minute walk to the Chongwenmen station on Line 2.

Confirm your room before you show up.
When I arrived they didn't have my hotels.com reservation. I had to call internationally hotels.com so they could fax them my confirmed room. So I wasted 1/2 hour of my time when it should have taken 5 minutes to check in. The room was ok and had to call for towels since none were in the room. The floors were sticky, grimy and moist in spots. I was afraid to walk barefoot on the carpet. Overall, it was ok but I will look elsewhere next time. The breakfast was decent though for the price.

Great Price - Excellent Staff and Location
Location is always a huge deciding factor for my wife and I when we book hotels overseas. Being our first trip to China, we wanted to be near all of the major tourist sites such as the Forbidden City and Ti'anneman Square while also keeping in close proximity of public transportation should the need to take it arise. This hotel delivers in that respect, and their staff is wonderful to work with. While only a few staff members speak English, they go well out of their way to make sure your needs are met. The only negatives we can really speak of are with regards to the rooms themselves, which could use some new carpeting and a fresh coat of paint. However, if you are like us and rarely spend any time in your room to begin with, then this hotel delivers good, reasonably priced accommodations in an excellent location.

Grubby but effective
It's a bit grubby around the edges but it is functional and very central. The English spoken by the staff is a bit hit-and-miss. Note that it's not where Google says it is. It's about 10-15 minutes' walk south of Wangfujing subway station, on Dong Jiao Min Xiang street. It's close to the old French post office.

Average Hotel
The location is good for sites such as Tianmen Square, Wangfuging Shopping street. The hotel is far from Metro stations, about 20min walk to either the #2 line or #1 line. Taking a taxi in this area is guaranteed slowed down by traffic jams. The hotel itself is nice and quiet. The staff are professional, however, when I check out, they wanted to deduct a $25 charge for a missing Laundry Bag, which I didn't know anything about. Overall for the price, I could have stayed at a better hotel in Beijing. The positive "location" for this hotel is somewhat deceiving, considering the long walks to the nearest restaurant or metro stations.

Good location.
Staff polite and attentive. We stayed in one of the "director" rooms on the 10th floor. I don't like mentioning things like this but I think I should this time. The very first thing I noticed was a cockroach in the bathroom I had to deal with. The staff did put a trap behind the toilet the next day. Frankly, for what we paid per night I expected more. The room was rather small. One huge over-sized chair, uncomfortable at that, made the room somewhat difficult to walk around in. We stayed 4 nights. If you can get the economy room, get it. We we stuck and had to take this room if we wanted a room at all.

Convenient, quiet location near Tienanmen Square
Because of a delay in my flight arrival from Shanghai, I was considerably later than expected getting to the hotel. However, the reception staff were most courteous and accommodating. The following morning I was meeting a friend in the lobby, and walking to Tienanmen Square and the Forbidden City. These awe-inspiring places are only 10-15 minutes' walk away, and because I was catching a train early in the afternoon, the hotel staff happily obliged me in taking care of my luggage until I returned from my walk. I am Australian, but I was grateful that at least some of the hotel staff spoke enough English to communicate. I liked my room, although the bed was a little harder than I'm used to, but I slept soundly nevertheless. I could not fault the cleanliness, but a small bottle of hair shampoo would have been useful in the shower.

Walk out the door, turn right then right, walk up the road for about 5 minutes then turn left and your at Tiananmen Square, that's the most important info you need. Good: 1.Location 2.Great restaurant in the building 3.Beds surprisingly not hard 4.Price Bad 1. Communist stupidity of the staff (couldn't fathom my passport visa valid from date wasn't expiration date) 2. Unnecessary 400rmb deposit needed 3. Beware of the hotel travel desk
The hotel does not offer in-room wireless. If you want in-room internet, be prepared to pay and make sure you have a laptop or other device that can accept an ethernet connection. The hotel travel desk. I was there using the "free, slow internet" in the lobby. The staff came by and told me if I wanted to stay in that area (only place to sit down), I would have to buy something, so I ordered tea. When I left I found out it was 38 RMB! Then they hit me with another 10 RMB for service charge ! Look out for the rip-off.

There were some molds in the bathroom. Everything in the room had rates written on it, and it was all over priced. Overall nice place but I had hard time explaining things to the staff in English. I have a beard so all the staff people kept starring at it and mumbling in Chinese and chuckling aswell but that's all right, I don't really care haha.

The hotel was in a great location and within walking distance of Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City. The rooms were decent. A little older overall, but pretty clean. Good Hotel
Good hotel, you get what you paid. I mean it's clean and has some nice features. The main problem is due to its location (it is close to the Prime Minister house) so there is no taxi, bus or metro near, because it's forbidden, so you've got to walk at least 15 mins to the closest metro station,

I stayed there for 3 nights with my mother and I didn't find the location particularly good...its a couple of blocs away from the metro station and tiananmen square but around the hotel there were no coffee shop or restaurant and since for us breakfast was not included we found it pretty inconvenient (even because if then u want to have a breakfast in the hotel they will charge u 70kuai per person!). The room weren't very clean, though i found the hotel staf extremely helpful and nice to me for every question i had to ask and any request I did! for location and cleaness i wouldnt reccomend it to friends. cheers

Location great. Hotel needs to finish renovation.
My original room was filthy and buggy and I asked the front desk to help me find another hotel to move into. To their credit, they upgraded me to the part of the hotel where renovation was finished. This area was fine, but the old area unacceptable. I don't ask for fancy, but it has to be clean, and not full of bugs... Location can't be beat. Easy walk to Tiannamen square.

Location is very good to walk to a number of tourist sites and to Subway lines. Staff courteous and helpful, reception/lobby and dining areas very nice. Rooms are rundown and marginally clean. Not luxury by any means 3 vs 4 star current rating. Fair price to have room in central location and good breakfast buffet. If you want relaxation in comfortable in- room furnishings or other in-hotel amenities it is lacking . Would recommend to friends on a tight budget.
