It was the little things

Posted Jan 19, 2017
Location: Not much. There were a few restaurants nearby, but the hotel is located far from shopping, dining, and amusement areas.
The hotel's location, about 3 minutes' walk from a subway stop was good, though it is on an alley and not well marked. The surrounding area is nothing to speak of, too. The hotel itself has a very good breakfast that has both western and Chinese food. I ate one lunch there, too, which was good. The bathroom was not in very good shape -- some mold in the shower, water that would only very slowly go down the shower's drain, etc. The wifi signal in the room was fine. The first room that I was assigned had two twin beds rather than the requested double, and it reeked of smoke despite being a "non-smoking" room. I requested another room and was upgraded -- still two twins and a vague smell of smoke. I purchased access to a workout facility in the hotel (why should it be purchased?) that had limited equipment but was in good shape. The workout facility shared a wall with a smoking lounge, however, which made it smell of smoke too. The hotel is okay, but it just wasn't up to international standards in terms of repair and amenities.

Great Room for the Cost

Posted Nov 16, 2016 on Hotels
Stayed here in November and was a great stay. However, it was quite difficult to find the hotel. Google maps was giving a completely wrong location. It is about a 4-5 minute walk from the Beitucheng Subway.

Good stay near convention centre, but not downtown

Posted Aug 27, 2016 on Hotels
Hotel was alright. Good quality Holiday Inn Express with good breakfast offerings. Price was also reasonable. However the location of the hotel is not the best. Subway stop is about a ten minute walk around a large city block, and down 72 steps every time. Easy access to Bird's Nest and Convention Centre, but that's about it as far as location goes. Rooms are comfortable and clean.

No gym facilities and dis-interested staff.

Posted Jul 29, 2016 on Hotels
the website indicated that there was a discounted rate available at a nearby gym, and other websites suggested that there was a gym on site. however, neither of these claims were true, and the reception staff brushed off enquiries about a gym, with little interest in helping.

repairs works too early on Sunday :-(

Although it's known that there's construction going on, still suggest that the repair works starts later during Sunday, regular working days are ok.

My 2 cents

Posted Sep 1, 2015 on Hotels
The service was good but the hotel is old and in need of renovations. It appears this was once a beautiful place to stay. Wifi is poor and the TV kept going out. In addition, the neighborhood is suspect to say the least. It's located in an urban setting. The great thing was the hotel is in walking distance to the Bird's Nest and subway and offers a buffet breakfast each morning. Overall, the hotel met our needs.
