This is probably the third time I went to this hotel. Previous times was OK, but this time there were a few things that did not go quite right. First, it took a while to register. Line of people, employees standing idly by waiting for something to happen. Process took forever. A more empowered desk people and streamlined registration process is very much required. Checkout process was similarly haphazard and lengthy. Received due apologies, employee even held the elevator door for me. So, that type of thing, I can get over.
Less forgettable is the temperature inside the room. Obviously, spring was in full bloom in Beijing, but then it was not exactly hot - always 5-12 degrees. Inside the room? 27-29 degrees. Air conditioning not working, only blows hot air. Closed it, opened window, to no effect (only opens an inch). Called front desk, was explained that unfortunately there was nothing to be done except to deliver a fan. Put the fan on the window - still never reduced the temperature under 27 degrees, even in the middle of the night.
I am sure this hotel is better during the summer. But because of this, I cannot afford to go there during any other time. I mean, this is supposed to be a four star hotel, but instead I got a sauna. This should have been handled differently. At least, you stand warned, apparently if it is hot in your room there is nothing to be done.
