The hotel is close to Queen’s University and the university section of the city. While walkable to the city’s shopping, it is easier to take public transportation or Uber/taxi. The street is quiet and mainly residential. You’re a short distance from Dean’s at Queen’s a Michelin Bib Restaurant.

Lovely hotel, not a chain! Breakfast really good. No walk in shower which is a problem for people with mobility problems, but that is the only issue

First off, didn't know what to expect, however from the moment we walked up to reception until we left, the staff were fantastic both in the bar and restaurant plus the front desk, food was amazing for what we paid it was brilliant, just a tad out from the city centre but we just wanted a quiet night away anyway, thank you all

A Bit Dissapointing
Hotel Lobby was lovely, as were the staff, food was OK if a bit pricey, the big disappointment was the room and bathroom which was very tired, there were patches of paint missing on the walls, looked like someone had attached balloons using celotape and the paint came off with the celotape. The bath had rust marks on the enamel and the ceiling of the bathroom had a black mould problem

Poor customer care
I arrived at 10am and left my case i did not arrive back until 10pm when i finished. I had stayed here before so i went to get a drink and then walked across the road to my room On arriving thr room was really cold i put the heater on and collapsed into bed clothed as it was do cold The next morning i explained the situation and said i wanted to complain There was 4 staff behind the desk and without stopping i explained fully she did not stop what she was doing scribbled down what i said even another member of staff yes they knew this was a problem and the room was cold and its not what i needed I stated i was due to return in a couple of weeks but would not be doing so and there was no response

Disappointing to say the least
I had high expectations from this hotel given the photos online and it's 4* rating, however I was so disappointed. I booked a double room for my boyfriend and I for 3 nights. We arrived a touch earlier than check-in (Around 1pm) but I travel a lot with work and 9/10 hotels will allow you to head up to your room if it's ready. As we walked in, the lady behind the desk (Carolyn) wasn't welcoming in the slightest (i.e. 'Hello and welcome to the Malone hotel') but instead immediately went in with 'Check-in isn't until 3pm so you'll have to wait'. When the first greeting isn't warm and friendly, it doesn't set a great tone for the rest of the trip. When we checked in later that day, we were told our room was over the road in a separate building which is never ideal. This building doesn't have anywhere near the same sort of elegance to it - just feels like a standard block of flats. Carpet is bubbling in places and the corridors stink of sick. We got to our room and the first thing we noticed was a buzzing sound coming from the electricity box in the corner - A sign that too much electric is running through the system - and a sound I didn't want to have to fall asleep to when paying money to stay in a 4* hotel. When the guy came over to look at it, he told us 'oh, that's normal, it's just the way it is' - as if we had to put up with a loud buzzing sound all night. We finally got moved and needless to say our second room also was disappointing. See photos below! Wouldn't recommend

Stayed in room 602. What a disaster! No heating, filthy and damp rising up the walls. Was given an electric heater that was missing a leg and would have set the carpet on fire.

Will Stay Again
This is our second stay at the Malone. At check-in, our room wasn't ready. We were happy to wait but Rawi was determined to find an alternative room which was great. Over the 2 days we were there, the hotel was full & the staff were stretched but everyone tried their best to ensure our stay was good. Minor problems were dealt with quickly. Breakfast is great. Tony & his team deliver even under pressure! Will definitely stay again

Fantastic find of a hotel
Very good overall experience. Staff friendly and very helpful - couldn't do enough to make our sray more enjoyable! Very clean hotel and smelled lovely and fresh throughout. Room spacious and very comfortable -bed extremely comfortable! Large bathroom with generous sized shower and a bath. Breakfast menu extensive and when order if cooked breakfast came it was delicious. Would recommend this hotel to anyone!

Little treasure
The Malone is a little treasure tucked away in a tree lined side street. Our room was beautiful and spacious. We had a problem with our heating but this was quickly rectified by staff on front desk. Excellent breakfast and bar facilities.

Would have given 5 stars but the amount of carpet and lack of temperature control in the room(none). Made it very hot and stuffy. Staff were all exceptional both at reception, the bar and breakfast service.

This hotel used to be much better. Now there is a noticeable decline in service and cleanliness of rooms (esp showers/bathrooms, where really old and dirty fixture). Chef was late for bkfst service when I stayed, so despite paying for the full bkfst only got the cold, continental offering. No offer of refund. There also seems to always be guests staying who are there to party - noisy and drunk in the corridors at all hours of the night. I am not sure I will come back, despite staying here over the past 7 years repeatedly for business.

Not terrible but won’t go back.
Left hand does not know what the right hand is doing. Different answer from everyone on every issue. Went with friends who have stayed often. They said gone downhill. We were not impressed.
