Very nice resort, simple yet nice even after the hurricane the staff manage to create a relaxing atmosphere.
Restaurant is unfortunately average but expensive. Simple dinner for two with a bottle of wine is easy $150. I think they need to up the quality and lower their prices and more guest would stay for dinner.
Overall a good experience.
We could live without the arrogance of the general manager who actually never did anything but stand around. Staff demeanor changed every time he showed up and not for the better.

Great location and very nice room for the price. Front desk stuff helpful and attentive. Bar stuff super friendly and helpful. The only reason why I don't give the hotel a 4 is because the cleaning stuff did not clean the restroom the second night I stay there and also because there were tons of mosquitoes all over the facility. I understand there was a hurricane not too long ago and that is why there are mosquitoes, but they have to do something about it, you couldn't stept out of the ro without getting bit like 20 times.

The hotel, pool and staff were all more than adequate. The hotel offered many different excursions that were costly but worthwhile. We were told by some guests you could go into the village and find excursions for less. We flew into Belize City, rented a car and drove the 3+ hours to the Placencia Peninsula. The drive was rather depressing; the landscape had been browned out by the hurricane several weeks earlier and the very few and far between homes indicated extreme poverty. The only decent beach we saw was at the hotel but if you walked passed the cleared area to the right or left there was trash. The pictures online make it look like there is a nice wide beach but it was very narrow and the bugs bit like crazy. The pictures also make it look like the water is blue and clear when in fact for the first 50-100 feet it is totally browned out by turtle grass. Most people stayed in the pool, not the Caribbean. We did take the 1 1/2 hour boat ride out to the barrier reef which is where the water is a beautiful crystal clear aqua. We snorkeled around and saw amazing coral and fish as well as nurse sharks about 7 feet long, rays and sea turtles. That was definitely the best part of the trip.

Grand Caribe exceeded our expectations in every way. I don't think a better resort exists on the island. From the friendly staff, to the food/service at Rain, to the gorgeous setting, everything was better than what you could see/learn from pictures and online reviews. Loved the swim up bar which became our post-dive hangout. The bartenders are all so attentive and fun. Our main intention was for all 4 of us (wife, me and 2 teenage boys) to get PADI certified while there and the concierge arranged everything. When asked what he thought about the resort, our 18 year old said: "It really made the whole trip special"...as if SCUBA on the reef wasn't enough.
