A good choice

Posted Apr 19, 2016
Pros: Staff interactions
Cons: Towels need a refresh. Housekeeping should ensure rooms are operative. Wifi is well below average.
Location: Ease to downtown.
This is a good choice in Belize City. The comments are on the margins, and compared to others. Staff is personable and friendly. A high point, Low points? The towels are very old and need a refresh to the point they are not soft. The furniture was comparable to 3 star properties. The wifi is free, but not high speed. Staff agreed. Lost connections, and very very slow. Other wifi experiences in the city much better. Safe was inoperative. Food in restaurants was from good to excellent. Bottom line, overall, this is a solid 3 star property. Comfortable and a good location. Again, the staff professionalism was high.

Belize City Hotel.

Posted Mar 28, 2016
Pros: Clean and close to water taxis.
Cons: Food
Location: Walking distance to downtown and to water taxis.
This hotel was clean and the staff was nice. The area around the hotel is a bit shady and you need to stay in the tourist areas. It is a short walk to the water taxi. For land tours the companies came and picked us up at the hotel. There are not many other restaurants that we felt safe to go to at night so we would eat in the hotel. The food was OK. It is close to where cruise ships disembark so there a lot of people hounding you for taxis, selling things or want to take you on a tour. The tours offered in the hotel are very expensive and we found another company that gave us personalized tours for much cheaper. The locals told us to go to Caye Caulker and not San Pedro and we did. Caye Caulker is awesome!!! FYI there are no beaches on the mainland near Belize City.

Poor customer service. Won't go back.

Posted Mar 4, 2016 on Hotels
Customer service was terrible. Elevator didn't work and had to beg for assistance with my family bags. This should have been offered before me asking. They lack customer initiative. Substandard. + Racial profiling! Tourist events are overall overpriced. You can get better deals with cabs who who work closely with others i.e. Cave tubing tour guides, Altun Mayan Ruin Tour Guides. So the deals are significantly cheaper. Food size smaller portions at the bar. Buffet is pricey but convenient if you're too lazy and or its raining. Celebrity restaurant is walking distance and pretty good food. You must take the water taxi to Caye Caulker and San Pedro. Beautiful Islands. 1 each day.

Still A Nice Place

Posted Jan 24, 2016 on Hotels
I had stayed at the Ft. George for a month on business way,way back in 1972, when it was the only first class hotel in Belize City. But not since. It is much bigger, has a much nicer menu, and has added not only rooms but decks and a nice outdoor pool/bar. The Belicians are a very friendly folk, and so is the hotel staff. It is a bit cut-up, given the annexes, and some of the decor (particularly the dining room) is from the 1930s. But because of its age, most of the older rooms are large. And the neighborhood is probably among the best if you want to be downtown. Belize City, of course, is not a tourist destination, but the area includes some decent restaurants and museums. (By Belize standards; think Fargo, please.) There are newer hotels, but I would still prefer the Ft. George if I every returned to Belize City.

Comfortable for my Business Trip

Posted Jan 10, 2016 on Hotels
Stayed in the Radisson Fort George for business while I worked in the cruise port. Comfortable room, great location near the port and near the water. Room's A/C left a little to be desired, but overall, I enjoyed my stay. Great restaurant in the hotel as well. Very tasty.

Good for overnight stay

Staff and service excellent, good for an overnight stay, food also very good. Nothing much around the surrounding area, would definitely return if the occasion arises.

Belize Holiday

Posted Jan 4, 2016 on Hotels
The only thing that was mediocre was the Stone Grill restaurant near the pool. Service one night was poor and slow. One person in my group waited for her chicken wings for over 45 minutes after everyone else had eaten and had to get them to go.
