Very cozy hotel just went out of season for golfPosted Nov 4, 2015
Shanty Creek was definitely an eye-opener for nature lovers. Sits on a Arnold Palmer design golf course one of the prettiest ones in the country. They had just closed down the golfing so there wasn't a lot for me today but I wasn't there for me I was there from my fiancé and my seven-month-old son we wanted somewhere to relax and have a serene setting for October rolling into Halloween weekend. Only 30 miles from Traverse City we had a nice quaint drive down to torch Lake and then made our way into the town of Traverse City. All of the food in the area was amazing and the cherry pie will be the best you have ever eaten in your life at the store call Cherry Republic

Beautiful settingPosted Oct 24, 2015
Cons: Cleaner rooms, better towels
Did not have a room clean I requested, house keeping gone home, towels were like 80 grit sand paper

Cons: Continental breakfast or lower the price.
The hotel was beautiful. The bed was very comfortable. We thought there was a continental breakfast, but found out breakfast was $13.00 per person. That was ridiculous high, so we went to the store the night before & bought a box a cereal, milk & bowls.

Not a great experience.Posted Aug 25, 2015 on Hotels
Overall nice place but poor service. First we were given the wrong room number with keys, scared the people staying in it. Second the balcony on the third floor is very shall we say wiggly?! Felt like it could come crashing down ( no supports under it) not to mention we stared right into the dining room which is open very late so no sense of privacy.

Nice areaPosted Aug 24, 2015
Cons: cleanliness of the roll away beds
Overall it was acceptable, probably will not stay in the area or at the hotel in the future because it could've been a better experience considering the per night cost was approx $200.00.

Front desk needs new managerPosted Aug 19, 2015 on Hotels
This was the most expensive hotel we stayed at during our 9-day tour of Lake Michigan. But it was the least professional check-in experience we encountered. I had pre-paid for the room, but when we arrived to check in, the clerk (#1) asked for my name, looked in a file of people yet to check in, and said, "I'm sorry, we don't have a room for Kristina [Smith-changing the names for this review], only for [Kevin Smith]." I told her that was a problem since we pre-paid. Then clerk #2 checked the computer and said, "Kristina Smith checked in at 1:30 p.m." I assured her I was Kristina Smith and there must be a mistake. She got her manager, and he realized he must have checked in Kevin Smith under Kristina Smith. He then told me it was "partly" Kevin Smith's fault for signing the registration paper without checking the name. (Uh, no, that's entirely your fault!). Mgr. said it would be straightened out, then asked, "Are you a drinker?" !! Seeing the appalled look on my face, he explained he was going to buy us "a beer" if we wanted. I told him it was late, we were tired, and we wanted to get to our room. He ended up buying us coffee the next morning. Apart from that, the room was really nice. We liked the private balcony. Dinner in the hotel restaurant was first-rate, the view from the dining room was beautiful, and the service there was excellent. But based on the negative check-in experience, I would not stay here again.

Nice HotelPosted Aug 18, 2015 on Hotels
This is a nice hotel in a beautiful setting. The rooms are dated but comfortable. The hot tub in the room did not work and the air conditioner would not keep the room very cool but it was a hot weekend. I would not even bring these items up but when they are charging top end rates I believe everything should be on that level also. Staff was very helpful and nice.

Very tired accommodations..Posted Aug 17, 2015
The check in was par with what one would expect for a holiday weekend taking about 20 minutes. The staff was pleasant but not overtly friendly. Our room faced the parking lot which was extremely full due to the fireworks scheduled for that evening. Parking was not well managed with no spots remaining for hotel guests despite having a special placard. The rooms were very old and tired. The hotel is in dire need of a renovation. Breakfast the next morning was a miserable experience. It appeared there were more than enough servers, but the seating and service was very confusing. The bacon was bland. I have stayed in hotels across the world. This is not a hotel I would recommend to a business or personal acquaintance. Absolutely not worth the cost.

Below average accomodationPosted Aug 16, 2015
Overall the stay was ok as it was our first visit. My expectation of the room we booked was below average for the price they have charged. I feel I would gotten a luxurious new suite in a high end hotel in the city for $250/-. Here are the issues I found with our accommodation: 1. Peeled wall paper in bathroom 2. No creamer or sugar next to the coffee maker 3. Overly used and faded bathroom towels 4. No free complimentary breakfast offered On top of that it took more than 2 hours to locate the place as it way too deep inside the city But it is a beautiful resort and views are breathtaking where ever you stand outside in the resort area.
