Relaxing place to stay for walking or visiting.

Pros: George provided excellent breakfast and the pub had a good range of food on the menu for lunch and or dinner. Comfortable and glad we had a weeks stay
Cons: U h t milk is not the best but when there is no alternative you manage. Plenty of tea coffee and biscuits available.
Location: Walking sand dunes, tidal river and fore shore all along the costal path. Drive to hills, villages, towns and sea side resorts. Garlic farm and more.
Short walk and you are on sandy dunes with river and mud flats in the other direction on a pebble beach with views to the mainland. Costal path so plenty of walks for man or dog lots of sand as well. Local variety of shops and pubs. Stay in one area or explore the island there is plenty to do and see.

Pleasant old-style pub inn with rooms

Pros: Freindly family atmosphere. The locals drinking outside seemed a good bunch -- always a good sgn. A good quiet pub atmosphere with charm.
Cons: A bit more on the Fisherman's Platter -- or re-name it.
Location: IoW? Everything is nearby, including The Needles -- get quickly past the Blackpool theme park there though to The Old Battery. Osborne House of course
After booking through Expedia, which is a necessarily impersonal process these days, it was reassuring to 'phone before arrival to confirm and find that there are real welcoming people there. No problems about arrival time, parking confirmed, ditto meal arrangements, so we arrived relaxed. Meal was good (Fisherman's Platter as advertised but don't confuse with the far more abundant French seafood platters). Communication with the attentive staff was nicely judged. Nice room: 'Midships', basic, but as expected, bed good. Was slightly concerned about uplighter for pub sign outside which would have shone into window, but it was never used when we were there -- so a peaceful quiet dark night. Breakfast cooked by George, very good. It is not a 'smart' place to stay -- thank heavens -- but very pleasant and relaxing. Would have given 5 stars but it is rather pricey for what you get. We really liked it and enjoyed our stay.

Accommodation near the sea

Great location, marred by the numerous building projects adjacent to the Inn and shabby apartment block blocking full sea views. The B&B accommodation was just what was wanted, however, with a most attentive landlord and an excellent breakfast.

Pros: Location and style. Takes dogs is a plus.
Cons: Make more room for clothes if possible. Larger TV on the wall perhaps ?
Location: Nice walks and little village near by. Houseboats to die for !
Loved our room but with no wardrobe we lived more or less out of our suitcases. Nice location and quiet with the beach near by and some lovely walks it is ideal if you have a dog with you. On the down side both my husband and I got food poisoning ! I hate to say this but we were pretty sure it had something to do with the breakfast there.

Thank you to George and his Team at the Pilot Boat Inn in Bembridge. We had a great week and stayed in a lovely room. Even though we were staying in a pub, we were not troubled by noise at all during the week, The food was excellent and reasonably priced with a good choice on the menu. George and his team were friendly and efficient, and service was good on every occasion. I would recommend this Inn to anyone - a great place to stay if you are spending time on the Isle of Wight.

Pros: We loved the atmosphere,
Cons: Although the menu was good pub fare, some of the dishes could be tweeked a bit, that does not apply to the hot crab ramekin which was beautiful!
Location: The Pilot Boat is close to the beach, a walk up the hill takes you to Bembridge, lovely little village. Visit the windmill, and Culver down for views!
A very pleasant experience. Freindly greeting from the start, room was light and airy, tastfully decorated and very comfy bed, shower room with lovely powerful shower! Breakfast was good full english or any combination it seemed, I ordered lightly scambled eggs and it was cooked perfectly, in my experience this is not always the case in other hotels. Rosy looked after us very well, she was always helpful and cheerful. The only thing we found a bit difficult was the lack of hanging space, only two coat hangers were supplied plus hooks on the wall.

Pros: Friendly, keen young staff
Cons: Breakfasts
Location: Bembridge is great however very quiet and not many pubs or restaurants in area. However highly recommend Crab & Lobster Inn located in Bembridge.
Hotel staff very friendly, recommend stay. Pub is good and always busy. Food okay, breakfast could be better. Near by Bembridge beach not so good and limited facilities in the area. Location good for access to other areas in Isle of Wight.

Pros: Room, location and staff
Location: Bembridge harbour across the road, lovely walks and village 5 mins up the road. Fab beaches at St Helen's 5 min drive away.
Very friendly staff. Room was good size, bed was most comfortable I have ever stayed in. Linen clean and soft. Pillows very good. Bathroom had the most wonderful shower. Towels were WHITE, soft and large. Breakfast was cooked to order and was good. I would definitely stay again. Stayed in the charter house room. It is on a road but hey it's the island it's never that busy.

Last minute find - perfect for a one-night stay

Pros: Fabulous comfy beds and lovely hot showers
Cons: The food was a bit of a let-down
Location: Good location and despite being on the main road there was no disturbance from traffic noise
Very happy that they accept one night bookings unlike other B&B's in the area. The bedrooms were clean and comfortable with unfussy decor. The beds were very comfy, the showers were hot and powerful and the wifi worked fine (you need to ask staff for the key). We ate dinner and breakfast in the pub downstairs and while neither meal was great, they were both fine and convenient being just downstairs. The staff are very friendly, helpful and accommodating so I would stay here again.
