Didn't live up to expectations

Posted Aug 24, 2016
Pros: Very nice location along the river
Cons: I'd rather they knocked $20 off the price and recommend Shari's across the street for breakfast. The chairs in the rooms were embarrassing.
Location: Golf. Float the river (a must-do).
I'd lived in Bend for 20 years and came back to town to finish up some business. I've heard a lot about Shilo and with the price and location I expected more. The front desk was fairly accommodating and they put us in what they said was the best room they had. If this was the best, I'm sure I'd have been unhappy with any of the others. You can tell in the past it used to be a nice room, but it falls short now. There is a nice gas fireplace - but the control is blocked by the unmovable cabinet the TV and tiny microwave sits in. Whether it worked or not, I don't know but it got chilly and I would have liked to use it. The 2 chairs, while comfortable, had the covering worn down where your hands would rest and the padding is poking through (and feels gross). I found a cork under one of them from a previous guest. The bed was comfortable and the pillows were great. The bathtub was unsupported (the supports below obviously rotted out), so during my shower the bottom flexed to the point I was concerned I was going to fall through. The on-site complementary breakfast options included scrambled eggs, link sausage, diced potatoes (cold and hard) and small pancakes (also cold and hard). Appalling. There were 2 hotel employees there but their only job must have been to clear the tables, not to monitor the food quality.

Outside of hotel is nicer than the inside.

Posted Aug 23, 2016
Pros: Staff was friendly, location was good, felt safe.
Cons: A massive room overhaul immediately. Rooms need to be remodeled before I'll ever stay there again.
Location: I went to the movie theater because I had to get out of the hotel that evening because it was so dingy. Easy to get there, easy to get mountain biking
After electing not to stay elsewhere due to the other hotel's location (that one felt industrial and not right), I drove by this hotel and thought it must be nice! The outside is pleasing, it's in a good location near the river, it's conveniently located to a lot of places, and it had a good feel to it, etc. Unfortunately, I was so disappointed with the inside of the hotel I considered not staying. The furniture is old and feels like they went garage sale hopping to get it, the bed sloped toward the headboard (though it ended up being ok), the linens were OLD, and I just couldn't imagine taking my shoes off the entire time. I didn't put anything on the floor and just felt icky. The TV was so ill placed, you couldn't use it (right across from the kitchenette) and worthless to view from the couch on one side of that and the bed on the other. The only place you could watch it from was from standing up in the kitchenette, or placing an uncomfortable side table chair in front of it in the middle of the room's walkway. The room is such a far departure from the rest of the hotel, because the outdoor dining area looks nice and the pools looked nice, but they seriously need to do a room OVERHAUL. Right away. I would stay there once they do that, but never again until that's done. Probably one of the more drab hotels I have stayed in in years and years of traveling. On the plus side, the location was good and the staff was really nice, and I did feel safe.

Pleasant surprise

Pros: Friendly and helpful staff, good location and quiet.
Not sure what to expect with Shilo, but this facility was a pleasant surprise. Our room deck was right on the river and the room size was good.

Nice hotel

It was a nice quiet place to sleep. It was close to downtown but not walking distance on a very hot day.

River view, first floor gets you walk out to River

Posted Aug 19, 2016
Ask for a room on the river. The view is beautiful. The room was set up like a suite, complete with fireplace. That said, the drain in the kitchen had food in it and they forgot to empty the garbage. We needed tissues and washcloths. It was clean, just turned around too fast by overworked staff. But all staff was super friendly and in general very efficient and responsive.

Nice setting, outdated rooms

Posted Aug 16, 2016
Our room was nice in a lot of ways - comfortable beds, nice view of the river - but badly in need of updating/repair to get a higher rating as it is an older facility (things like AC not cooling very well, broken screen door to balcony, old TV, slow draining tub). Front desk staff was very helpful and friendly.

Ok place to stay. Front desk was not friendly and never smiled. For the price and facilities (pool, spa and restaurant), ok place to stay and would stay again. Good location.

Hotel by river

The location is great. It is a hotel that is affordable but old and rundown. I felt it needs a remodel! Sad is friendly.
