Great location, nice staff, housekeeping issues

Posted Aug 31, 2017 on Hotels
The person at the desk gave a great recommendation for dinner in walking distance. Housekeeping wad not so good. Food had been left in the fridge, there was a bottle cap left on the chair, and the carpet needed vacuuming. The beds were fine, and the bathroom was clean. Staff were concerned when told about the problems, and gave the impression that housekeeping issues would be addressed.

Pet Friendly - Enjoy the dog doo of others!

Posted Aug 27, 2017
Pros: Lowest cost. As is so often the case, the lowest cost is the highest price.
Cons: Move the carpet machine from one side of the room to the other, and from one end to the other. Several times. Add shampoo, vinegar, and/or deodorant.
Location: Say "Hi!" to the sketchy guy in the Autozone parking lot. Check out the fencing materials lay-down yard out back. Steal pallets from the food bank.
It is unconscionably ironic that some low-cost hotel chains (La Quinta; Motel 6) can provide pet-friendly accommodations without extra 'pet fee' charges AND the reeking stench of other peoples' dogs, and hotel chains that charge extra provide the extra amenity of olfactory offense. Here at the pungent Bend Super (sic) 8, it was not only the olfactory, but also the visual of brackish dark water rinsing from my feet in the shower the next morning. Yum! Upon checkout, the congenial and friendly clerk averred that the pet rooms are shampooed weekly. Perhaps very weakly. More likely the maintenance staff enjoys some down time when the Hotel Manager thinks the carpets are being cleaned. Speaking of "Yum..." Does that come with breakfast? Why, yes it does! "Hot Breakfast" means a belgian waffle machine and cold hard-boiled eggs. Foodies Delight! If hotel belgian waffles do to you what those delectable morsels do to me, those eggs will add some punch to the pop, and spark real conversations if your out-of-tow stay includes a car ride with other people. If you love those other people in the vehicle with you, steer clear of the deadly waffle-egg duo, and always say "Yes, Dear." (The secret to my long-term marital success.) And move on down the highway, past the Bend Super 8.

Going to the Show!!!

Posted Aug 25, 2017
Pros: Quiet.
Cons: Get some regular coffee.
Location: Plenty of places to eat close by and the Amputheater is only a mile away. Nike outlet is close as well.
Attended Steve Miller/Frampton show and stayed three nights. Really quiet for being on a main road and although it was nothing fancy, it was clean and nice enough. Free breakfast and nice staff.

Convenient Southside location

Posted Aug 23, 2017
We've stayed before and it's been updated and better maintained since our last stay. As I was getting ice, I saw one of the hotel employees escort a man to his room and offer to bring him ice. She was so kind and gracious to this gentleman who obviously needed some TLC. Out of her way customer service. FYI, there are no elevators so you have to haul bags up or down stairs to rooms.

Descent but overpriced

Posted Aug 15, 2017 on Hotels
We really enjoyed the city of Bend, however the hotel here is a $70 - $99/ night hotel. We paid over $200/night. The breakfast is not great and the same thing all three mornings. The staff was friendly which is a plus. I feel if we paid a more reasonable price I may have scored a little higher review. I won't likely return to this hotel, but will likely return to the area.
