Old world hotel close to downtown

Posted Aug 21, 2016
Pros: Stylish, old world (lots of wood and nice decoration). Good location. Rooms are large and quiet. Nice breakfast. Friendly reception. Good value.
Cons: Rooms could be updated a bit.
Location: Bergen has several older neighborhoods that are nice to visit and one is only 2mns from the hotel. You can walk through it to get to the harbor.
Hotel is across the street to the railway station and about 10-15mns walking distance to downtown (fish market, funicular, main commercial streets and old town). Very nice, old world entrance and bar area. The rooms are airy, large and quiet. The rooms could sue some freshening up but we did not see that as an issue that affected our stay. Breakfast is in a large dining area behind the reception. Breakfast buffet has a good selection and the breakfast room is large and comfortable.

Location is the biggest selling point!

I stayed at this hotel for 1 night. My first impression of the hotel was great because of the following: 1 - Quick and swift check in. We did not have to wait for more than 4 minutes. The check in staff was very efficent and all required information was prepared prior to arrival. 2 -The staff was helpful in assisting with the local map, bus timings etc and provided us with the required info about the hotel 3- The restaurant was full of people and lively, loved their unique ordering process at the Bar instead of ordering at the table 4- The restaurant staff was friendly and the food served was great.. 5 - Overall experience interacting with Staff was amazing What is a let down; 1 - Rooms are too small and does not have a lot of amenities. 2 - The wifi in the room was not great very weak and did not match the information printed on the card i.e. access point name was different 3- Bathroom was really small and the best example of anything that is matchbox size.. The soap was not great either.. i did not see a shampoo or conditioner (did not bother to ask for 1 either) 4 - The bed was sub-standaed with Spring bed and two single beds were joined together to make double bed with a gap in between two. I had a back ache the next day 5 - Had to really push hard to make sure that the room door is locked and had to manually lock in. The breakfast too was not great and the bread was the only saving grace Overall If you are not too fussy about the in room comfort this is a good hotel!

Junior Suite

This room is a "period room"-throwback to the 20's. The large windows all open to the "balcony" (wouldn't use it though-small and decorative). The bed was super comfortable! The room has two wing-back chairs and a 4-person dining table. The bathroom is large with a shower and soaking tub. Two average folks could share it. There is a large foyer with ample storage and a full size ironing board. Like many European hotels, if you want a washcloth or loufa.. Bring your own. There is a washer and dryer available with "pods" type soap for sale at the desk for a rough current rate of $1.20 per pod. The units are much smaller than in the USA, but fresh clothing is worth it after many days of toting dirty clothes. The front desk was very couteous and we even got to check in early..so do check in and try. The weather in June was cool and often rainy..55-60 degrees F. Bring a good raincoat and shoes that are good to walk, but wayerproof. I took a pair of Timberland boots..great for all purpose use. The location is directly across from the train terminal. The location for the bus is across from it. It does go to the airport. You either have to pay in krones on the bus ( about 115 each) or purchase a ticket before boarding next to the bus with a pin credit card. The Norway in a Nutshell tour is awesome! It is "self guided". You make all your connections on your own to the train, bus, and boat. Do go to eat at the fish market. It will be one of the most pricey meals most likely.

Sentralt og hyggeleg hotell

Posted May 18, 2016 on Hotels
Vennleg og effektiv mottaking, sameleis utsjekking. Eksellent frukost. Jernbane- og busstasjon med flybuss i gangavstand. Rommet var litt lite, har budd her før i større dobbeltrom, så bestill i god tid.
