Nice hotel close to the old harbour of Brygenn.

Posted Jul 7, 2017
Pros: Really nice roomy room with couch, chairs and large bathroom. My wife is disabled and they placed her in an extremely accessible room.
Location: A short walk to the old harbour of Brygenn and a 15 minute walk from the Hirtigruten ferry (we walked to the ferry both coming and going.
Great breakfast which is part of the room price, very helpful and friendly staff, great location next to the old harbour but quieter than the other side of the harbour. It is expensive by Canadian standards but good value for Bergen. We had a very early flight and the hotel gave us a 4AM wake up call and made us a nice bag breakfast without me asking for it. We really loved this hotel!

Old Hotel with Small rooms and Inadequate Amenitie

Posted Jul 4, 2017
Pros: Location with easy access to many Hanseatic wharf sites.
Cons: Beds could be larger and firmer and more storage space in the room for toiletries, clothing, etc.
Location: Lots of activities like the Hanseatic Museum and free shuttle service to others nearby. Have a funicular that goes up to a great viewpoints.
Single "standard" beds were very narrow (only 30 in. or 80 cm) and overly soft (or just worn out perhaps). There was virtually no storage space in the room either in the tiny bathroom, one closet and no chest of drawers - just one minifridge. In-room free wifi was good as was the ample free hot breakfast buffet. Staff mostly very friendly and helpful with info and suggestions. Had a nice on-line chat service on their web site that was helpful. Basically a comfortable old hotel for a couple nights in Bergen and very conveniently located on the wharf area within easy walking distance of many of the sights. Didn't need it ourselves but parking was limited apparently from what we heard from other guests.

Unacceptable incidence

Posted Jun 25, 2017
We came from London Heathrow and booked to stay for one night at your hotel in Bergen. Myself, wife and son checked in to a family room on 23/06/2017. The safety lock was not working and hence we just shut the door and tried to open the door from outside with out key. It did not open and hence we were happy to go to sleep. Just close to midnight when we were sound asleep, a couple walked into our room using the key given at reception. We were all scared and could not sleep afterwards. The entire night was unsettled. This was a gross negligence on the part of the reception causing distress on our holiday. We came to relax but not to go through the stress like this. No one seem to have taken any notice or any attempt to come and apologise. When I reported at the reception about this incidence in the morning, the receptionist on duty did not even bother to apologise for the mistake and moreover, she told me that there is no proper complaints process. She gave me an email to write. I'm not sure this will be acted. This is disgusting and unacceptable in this modern age of technology. Hope this does not happen again to any other customers. I would be reluctant to book again in this hotel neither recommend to friends.

Large Family size Room

Posted Jun 25, 2017
Nice toom. Larger than most very good breakfast also. No parking on site. You need to use the garage a couple blocks away That's fine accept that it's very difficult to find .GPS directions to the garage street address don't get you to the garage entrance. The hotel needs to assist its guests and give them a GPS address they can send guests to locate the parking garage instead of just a small map which was very difficult to read

Great hotel in the city center

Posted Jun 6, 2017
The hotel has a great location, 5 minutes walk from the Fish Market and Pier. Hotel is quite comfortable, the staff is friendly, and breakfast is great. The property is old, though. Overall, quite comfy.

Would not recommend this hotel

Posted Jun 5, 2017
Old hotel - Very small rooms and lousy ventilation. Finally had to ask for a fan. Hotel staff were friendly. Bed was single and very uncomfortable. Bathroom tiny. This was an expensive hotel compared to others I have been staying that was much nicer. Would not recommend until they update.
