Clean, pleasant, great location

Posted Nov 14, 2017
Pros: Location, cleanliness, staff.
Cons: Maintenance of technology and things within the room.
Location: One block from campus, next to the downtown Telegraph region, and a very short walk to the downtown Berkeley BART station(took us to SF for a day).
Had a really nice stay here. You can't beat the location immediately next to campus, and the hotel staff was really helpful and friendly. The room was comfortable, clean, and had an unbeatable view of the Camponile but a little bit cramped. The room had some tech. issues: the phone didn't work, the remote barely worked, and the window wouldn't stay open. But all of these were rather minor inconveniences. For the most part the hotel was exactly what we needed, the only thing that I got hung up on was how expensive the parking was.

Great location

Posted Oct 23, 2017
This hotel is a great location if you are visiting the University. However, it is old and run down (despite a recent "renovation" and change of ownership. The worst part is that you hear EVERYTHING in your room - the people in the hall, your neighbors on both sides, you can even talk to the people in the bathroom next to you through the vent. There is absolutely no privacy in this place. Additionally, for some reason your room key loses its code all the time and you constantly need to go to the front desk because you can't get into your room.

Pros: Location, decorations, ambiance
Cons: More helpful desk staff at night
Location: Restaurants, shopping, easy access to UC Berkeley
Room was cozy and eclectically decorated. Very kind and helpful morning and afternoon front desk staff. Easy check-in and very convenient location to UC Berkeley campus.

"Renovated" hotel w/o AC and computer support.

Posted Oct 5, 2017
Hotel computer in lobby has been hacked. When you click on a link on an airline site, a new screen pops up with a computer game and ad. You have to close that screen and repeat. There's no printer in the lobby, you have to email a boarding pass to the staff to print.

The bed is comfortable and the sheets are incredible; having an AC in Berkeley is a phenomenon and lovely, but you can literally hear everything. My upstairs people were talking about someone's landscaping they don't like at home. Every door slam , every dog, even the housekeeper in the utility closet is audible so bring earplugs. That said, it's friendly, quirky, and comfortable. Its the best hotel close to Cal. The drapes are great and it's nice that rooms have a little fridge. The restaurant was being remodeled so not sure about that. Again, the sheets are incredible.

Outdated hotel with very average services

Posted Aug 29, 2017
Pros: Location to the university.
Cons: Updating required in the bathroom. Glasses rather than paper cups. Attention to the noise level. The front desk could have been more helpful.
Location: Location okay for restaurants and subway if you are willing to walk 15 to 30 minutes. Location to the university campus is great.
The room was outdated and services were average for the high price. Internet service was sketchy. We had construction workers banging above our room at 7:00. Paper cups are okay if you are in a low end hotel but not a hotel at this price. The room was not made up by 4:00 the next day and we never did see anyone to make up the room to provide fresh cups and coffee.
