Pre Christmas Visit
A very welcome stop over for us. Hotel Christmas decorations where stunning. Everything was just perfect. A perfect place for two weary travellers to stay. Our dog was welcome too

There was no heating in our room and even though we requested a portable heater multiple times, they never provided one. Staff looked like they wanted to do anything but be hospitable.

Super nice place in quiet countryside good for relaxing weekend away. Staff are very nice and accommodating and Pool is amazing, Sauna is also good but was out of order so hopefully this will be working next time we come. Will definitely re visit as this is one of our favourite places. Staff on check in was amazing and they upgraded our room so we had a door looking out on golf course which was super nice.

Too much to pay for drinks
The staff were fine and sent us off to our room. We got in and found that you could actually write your name in the dust on the glass topped bedside table. Everything else was OK. We went for a bar meal in the sports area, choose curry each and two glasses of wine. The bill was £60 plus. Staggered, we looked at the prices and found that a large red was £15 plus and a medium £11 plus. Way too much to be charging for drinks.

It was OK
The stay was OK (in the Manor House). The room was nice, it was very warm and the air on didn’t seem to work but opening a window fixed that issue. The hot water was spluttery when used (like it had air bubbles in it) the cold water was cloudy but we had complementary water bottles we could use in the kettle. We had dinner in the bar, the food was OK I had expectations of a higher quality. On the way back to the room we asked for more water for the kettle which never arrived. Bed was OK never sleep well in a hotel. Breakfast was nice buffet style very good quality and no complaints about that. Unfortunately asked for a pot of tea which when it arrived tasted like soap so someone didn’t rinse after washing. Just had the orange juice which again was of a poor quality. Experience was so mixed it would not take much to get it to a good one.

I have some complaints about the room, wifi is not working I called reception but no answer, and the shower water was so weak that it was impossible to get the shampoo out of my hair. the lift was out of order and we had to walk up with luggage three flights of stairs to get to our room. the pool was clean but the sauna was out of order.

Stayed one night and I probably overlooked the detail when booking but things I noted are, don't assume you will get a room in the main grand building. The site is made up of three separate buildings. This in itself is confusing as you arrive you don't know where to go clearly. I booked a family room so was furthest away and in a building with no staff and very limited parking nearby. Dining options are limited, we went to restaurant and were told unless we have reservations no chance of table. So I had to have food in the main bar which is not ideal with three year old child. Also hotel is dog friendly, fair enough but while having breakfast your sitting amongst people who think it's a good idea to bring their dogs to the table...I would not stay again.

We were returning to the property after more than 10 years and chose a room in the Mansion House. Check in was efficient with a clear map of the property provided -this was just as well since the car parking we initially used was a LONG walk from the hotel reception (we later moved our car). The lift was also broken to the first floor bedrooms. On arrival in our very pleasant bedroom we immediately noticed the sewage smell from the shower drains, and the lack of bath towels. The latter was quickly rectified, but the smell persisted throughout our one night stay - we slept with an open window. We had a first class dinner, cooked by Martin in the View restaurant, which was also a good walk from the Mansion House, but on a pleasant evening. Overall a little disappointing for the price we paid.

The place is very rundown. They charge insane prices for extremely basic rooms with no amenities, no AC, dirty and with no working elevators.

The golf area was poor as each hole to close back to back and dangerous as well as walkers and road being obstacles. Staff were the worst from any hotel. Reception not welcoming when I said are you tired they said yes too just too busy. No welcome or information. Lift not working to room. Room no air conditioning. Overall more like a 2 star hotel. So disappointed and no opportunity to talk to anyone about it there

Beautiful hotel
The hotel is beautiful and our room was amazing. Downside was the air conditioning did not work well. Also on the first day breakfast there was a power outage and the food was tepid at best. The next day breakfast was also not very hot.

Nice hotel but door closers are an issue
I was staying for 2 nights on business at the end of August. I enjoyed the hotel but the noise of the doors on adjacent rooms slamming from people coming back from, presumably, the bar late kept me awake. The hotel itself is comfortable and well maintained but this spoiled my stay as I didn't get a good night's sleep (I was in room 708). Surely it's not too much to ask to dampen the door closers so they're not slamming shut in the middle of the night.
