Great location but desperately needs updating!!!Posted Sep 15, 2015
The hotels lobby and exterior seem to be well looked after but the rooms (at least the room I was provided) are in serious need of refurbishment. There was wall paper either peeling or bubbling off every wall...the decor was very dated - lots of sage green. When I used the bath it leaked into the entrance way leaving a large wet patch on the carpet by the door to my room. Which i did report to the member of staff who brought my food up. The room service food was good but not hot enough and took longer to arrive than advised. The staff on reception were slow at checking me in when I arrived and also advised me that id booked a "deluxe double" - my room had twin beds and was far from deluxe but then I had only paid the discounted Expedia price so wasnt bothered. On the plus side the room was clean and the bed was comfortable (albeit a single bed) and the location was ideal for what I needed and was close to the retail park (walking distance).

Ideal choice, if you're in the areaPosted Sep 7, 2015
Pros: The location was perfect for a wedding we went to nearby (phones in lobby to order taxis) and breakfast buffet was worth the money
Cons: We didn't bring toothbrushes, as we expected them to be provided.
Location: The hotel is just off a large retail park with high street stores like Topshop, Miss Selfridge etc. Plus, a huge 24hr Tesco next door, Curry's, etc.
This hotel does what it says on the tin; we were in the area for a wedding and it was the perfect location and price. The staff were helpful and we were able to check in an hour and a half early. The room was comfortable - though the bed a little small! - and there were nice toiletries in the bathroom.

Needs an upgradePosted Aug 24, 2015
Pros: Good location, pleasant staff, comfortably bed and good value breakfast.
Cons: Apart from doing.something about the soundproofing, the hotel does need a bit modernising.
Pleasant enough stay. Hotel is very noisy with noisy closing doors and other quests who choose to chat into the night.

All looking a bit tired now.Posted Aug 23, 2015
Cons: Redecorate the bedrooms.
Have stayed at the Hilton, Newbury on a number of occasions over the last ten years. While the rooms are comfortable, some of them have too many pieces of furniture in them, so seem cramped. The decor is looking rather tired as well. Must be due a revamp soon. Breakfast has plenty of choice, but why leave a pot of porridge out, no-one in their right mind is going to eat porridge that's been sitting there for hours. Would be much better to cook on demand.

stop over hotel on a journeyPosted Jul 27, 2015
Pros: nice sized room friendly staff and pleasant surroundings
Cons: the rooms need cleaning better and not rushed as it appears
Location: loads to do nearby and local shops and other facilities nearby continued our trip to Oxford the next day which was close by
The hotel was easy to fine in Newbury and was a nice looking place with helpful friendly staff quite old fashion in its appearance but nice the room was large but there were a few issues with the cleaning of the room and the towel's that were provided also a used flannel was left over the shower rail and had not been noticed or removed by the cleaning staff which then left you wondering what else was dirty in the room, I can only assume that there had been a wedding prior to our stay as there were silver heart shaped item left on the floor, although it was a family room for four there were only two cups and one robe with slippers and the hair dryer was also missing when this was pointed out to staff new towel's and a hairdryer were brought up to us and a free breakfast was provided in the morning .

How can this be a Hilton?Posted Jul 20, 2015
Pros: Staff, evening meal.
Cons: Decor and more attention to breakfast (egg choices and making sure stuff on the buffet was piping hot.
Location: I have no idea what you can do here. We were just passing through.
Stayed one night. Staff were without exception excellent. Very helpful and friendly. Evening dinner was also good and reasonable value for money (certainly no more expensive than eating somewhere else). The exception being drinks of course. Breakfast was adequate but only eggs offered were scrambled (inedible) and things like bacon were barely warm. But main criticism is that the hotel needs bringing out the 70s and into the 21st century. Tatty furniture in our room, scratched and generally well worn. Even furniture in the dining area looked tatty. General decor was anything but modern. The place could be quite nice. Really, the staff meant we left with a good feeling. Certainly not the decor.

Nice enoughPosted Jul 6, 2015
Booked the hotel for one night as we travelled through to meet friends. Booked it for a very good price so certainly proved great value. Fantastic breakfast option and very comfy bed!
