Good location

Cons: Truth
Location: Lots to do.
Room was hot, aircon had broken down, warning sign not to open windows because of bees on roof. Just be honest.

Pros: Friendly staff. Excellent location. Small hotel but give a freedom of a large scale hotel which means guest free to do their own thing in a lobby area
Cons: A lady front desk that was working on Saturday morning. She seems unhappy and always busy with things. It doesn't hurt to smile and staying noticeable
Location: Walking distance to all shops and restaurants. It offers a great experience to know Windsor culture if stay here. I will stay here when I return.
This is my first time in Windsor (4th times in UK). I'm in town to attending an English wedding. I found this Macdonald Windsor hotel with high recommendation on Expedia so I gave it a tried. This lovely hotel is located right across from Windsor Castle. It's walking distance to any local shops and restaurants (Windsor Grill was great). Checking in hotel was pleasant with a very welcome friendly professional from a lovely front desk lady. She explained everything to me from full breakfast (excellent food & service) included for two days and to 2 directions of how to get to my friend's hotel for next day wedding. I'm a typical 5 stars America hotel guest that expect a great service and she was absolutely met my first impression. My room was very clean. Comfortable. Crispy new smell cotton sheets and pillow. Room window can open all night to get fresh air if you don't want AC. Great in room Nespresso or tea or hot cocao and bottle water all complimentary. I am not a big breakfast fan but I made an effort to have it in the morning so I will have a chance to meet a friendly hotel staff. Strongly recommend this hotel either solo, couple or family will fit well. Oh GREAT concierge service anything you need including drop off your post card they'll happy to mail it to your destination (at no cost). Only small thing was my housekeeper didn't refill toiletry and she moved my own (organized) toiletry around from a tray on counter. Don't touch guests' stuff would be awesome.

High standard hotel right in the heart of Windsor

Pros: Pretty much everything.
Cons: Security deposit is held up to 10 days against your credit card.
Location: Right in the heart of Windsor, so you can't go wrong.
The Mcdonald Windsor Hotel is a fantastic place. We had a twin room which was spacious with very comfortable beds. There is a high standard throughout the hotel. I would have no hesitation whatsoever to stay here again. My only issue is with the security deposit for the room which can be held against your credit card for up to 10 days. After six days from checkout I sent a message to the hotel highlighting the charge was still showing against my credit card. I got a very nice reply from the Financial Controller saying this was beyond the control of the hotel and this was normal practice with the bank. However, I have used my credit card for security deposits at other UK hotels and the holding charge has been released at checkout. Having the charge against your card for up to 10 days impacts on your available credit which may be an issue for some travellers. Hotels (and banks) need to know these issues do inconvenience customers. The charge against the card goes through immediately at checkin - so should the return of the holding charge at checkout. This is not a major issue but it is a real turn off for me. If I stayed here again I would pay the deposit in cash to avoid this issue. It's a shame, because everything else about this hotel is spot on. It is the only reason I didn't give it a full five stars or "excellent" rating.

What a lovely hotel to stay in, check in was brilliant very friendly and helpful staff, we were upgraded due to it being our anniversary . Location of hotel was great ,walking distance to everything . Will definitely be back. Mike & Elaine

lovely location. Lovely visit. I recommend this hotel. Unless breakfast is included in your price, it's extremely expensive. Lots of other breakfast options close by.

Great on the outside....

I just spent a weekend at the Macdonald Windsor hotel with my partner since we wanted to relax and visit the castle and the town. The hotel has an amazing location, right opposite the castle entrance. Most of the rooms have no view, but it's ok because they are all great. The hotel's lounge is newly refurbished and gives visitor a sense of calmness. However, the hotel is very bad in many small details. In the room was supposed to be a complimentary bottle of water with a note 'please do not remove - charge £4.50'. We k
