Central, with impeccable service

Pros: The staff. They were welcoming and helpful and teh overall service was impeccable
Cons: Room facilities - making sure sufficient supplies were available
Location: Very central location but consider getting breakfast as there aren't many places open for breakfast on a Sunday morning nearby!
Check-in was swift and friendly and we were given a choice of where we wanted to be in the building. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The reason I have only given 3/5 for facilities is because there was no 'ordinary' (i.e. English Breakfast) tea in the tea tray, and only one sachet of black tea, which was Earl Grey. Furthermore, there was only one set of towels in the bathroom which we only discovered when we went to shower in the morning! However, the staff were very friendly and responsive, and replacement tea and towels were brought up to our room promptly.

Pros: Right in the centre of reading
Cons: The prices at the bar
Location: The oracle and hexagon theater
The nice hotel is right in the city centre with only a short walk away from the train station and the oracle. The hexagon theater is a bout 10 minutes walk I would use this hotel if I was staying in reading again. Also they do have a swimming pool.

Good central location but...

Pros: Location / Pool / Breakfast
Cons: TV channel selection
Location: Great location
Location was great and facilities good but the room itself could/should have been better, especially for the price. Poor TV channel selection was missing many free-to-air channels which made little sense. Had to guess how to use the phone as it was missing a template that should have been on the phone. We were able to park on site but if you don't get there at the right time you have to park in a nearby NCP. Rates are subsidised but it's still away from the hotel so not the best.

Pros: Great position, excellent breakfast, very comfortable bed.
Cons: Only one dressing gown in the room
Location: Very close to train station, lots of bars and restaurants and shops
I have stayed in this hotel on a few occasions and this was the worst executive room I have stayed in - it was quite dreary

Clean, welcoming, great location for transport

Pros: Checking in is not boring and the staff tried to maximise the value of my trip by making sure points were added. Very clean and great location.
Cons: Automatic check in so there is no need to go to reception in the morning. Just drop any bill for items paid with the room under the door overnight.
Location: There are so many shops, I book this hotel to spread browsing and buying over two days. New restaurants and cafes opening all the time.
Came to Reading on my own to take advantage of the sales, walk around the large pedestrian area and get some work done. The hotel is one 100 meters from the station, Reading-Heathrow buses and local bus drop offs. The Oracle is accessible by foot, as are many international food restaurants, something for everyone with or without kids. The hotel and room were exactly as you expect them to be, that is why I have travelled with this chain of hotels since I was a kid. By that I mean, very well organised space so I could work with the wifi, iron the clothes and relax in a high comfortable bed. Everything worked perfectly. The bath fills up fast, the shower is hot and room service was on time and delicious.

Convenient but lacking in amenities

Pros: Bright and airy lobby. Convenient location.
Cons: The bedroom! Better pillows; electric outlets; guest instructions...
Location: Convenient for train travel. OK for late night eating - if you like McDonalds.
The hotel has a bright and welcoming lobby, together with a very pleasant bar and dining area behind it. Check-in staff were pleasant, efficient and helpful. Checking in left the impression that an enjoyable stay was likely. However, the room was extremely disappointing. I paid £164 for, I suppose, a basic room. It was smaller than a Premier Inn room; the bed was less comfortable (with rubbery, cheap pillows) and it was impossible at first to find an electric outlet - even though there was a desk area. Unforgivable in this day and age. Eventually I found one - just one - half way between the wall and ceiling - behind the tv, and nowhere convenient for the desk. A strange box was next to the tv with a USB charger but no other apparent use. There were no instructions in the room for anything. The sink in the bathroom was a weird design that may be ok to some people but not very welcoming to me. All in all, nowhere near value for money.
